About Billy & Bobby - 9 & 6 Year Old Beagles
Meet Billy and Bobby, two beautiful Beagles who love their noses! Billy is 9 and Bobby is six and are brothers so cannot be separated, they just love each other too much.
Bobby is a very cruisy boy with a lovely smile and not much bothers him. He likes to try to catch flies and follow his brother around the back yard. Billy likes to sniff everything and get as close to his humans as possible.
The boys love to chase lizards around the back yard and will sniff them out even when they are not in sight. They love a little bit of water and have done well in a paddling pool although were not interested in the water around a big pool or the beach. The boys do not play with toys much and are not rough and tumble type dogs, they prefer to spend quality time with their humans more than anything else.
Currently the boys are mostly outside dogs and have adapted well with this although they do push their luck in trying to come inside to get closer to their humans. They would love more than anything to be inside with you and are very well behaved when they are inside although they like to think they own everything including the couches. Aside from only one occasion when they were exploring their new carers home and Billy marked his territory inside (he quickly realised he’d done the wrong thing and took himself outside) they have had no accidents on the occasions they have been let inside.
Billy and Bobby love a daily walk but would need someone who is confident in continuing with their training as they get very excited and are learning it’s not polite to pull on the lead. They respond well to a firm “gentle walking” command but because they just love their noses so much the excitement takes over at times. They are very strong boys so would need someone who is physically strong and capable to walk them.
The boys are very comfortable around other dogs so would be ok in a home with other dogs although they are untested with cats. They are also unphased by small children and have been tested with their current carers nieces who are 18months, 3 and 6 and did not jump up on any of them. However, the boys are currently learning they are rewarded with more pats when they do not jump up on adults so would need a home where you can continue this training.
The boys are currently in foster care with someone who works approx. 30 - 40 hours a week and at times left all day and have adapted well as they have each others company. Billy can get a little anxious when you leave him initially but he quickly settles and takes himself off to bed or occupies himself by following his nose somewhere. Bobby is very chilled and not bothered about being left as long as he has his brother by his side. Although they boys are ok to be left, they would need to be in a home where their owners can spend quality time with them when they are home as they are dogs who rely on human affection.
Billy needs a little bit of extra care as he gets a tablet morning and night for his Cushing’s disease so would need to be in a home where his owners are comfortable to give him medication. He takes his tablets well with a very small treat. Billy has also had some recent dental work done. Both boys are de-sexed, wormed and flea treatment up to date.
Billy and Bobby are currently in care in Thornton, NSW. Their adoption fee is $700.
