About Eddie
Not available for interstate adoption
Must go to a home with another younger, friendly, playful and well-adjusted dog.
He is quite acive so will need an active home that can get him out and about for at least an hour or more a day and will need mental stimulation as well in the home as well as play with your other dog
Profile and needs in a home
Eddie has a sweet temperament and is more suited to a less chaotic household, with calm older children and another young, well-adjusted and playful canine companion.
Eddie is a very affectionate boy and loves cuddles. He's very good with calm older children and other dogs. Open your arms to him, and he will jump straight into your arms. He loves sitting on the couch next to you with his body touching you.
He may still be a bit timid so will be afraid if things gets too chaotic i.e. too many dogs or people in his face, or loud noises.
He may not be used to being left alone for long periods of time due to his experience of always living with other dogs and people, so a home where his new owners are not away for long periods of time would be the best fit as he loves his human companionship.
He's very playful and sometimes may not be fully aware when he is being a bit much for another dog so will still need his new owner to be onboard with continuing to help him when he gets to playful on occassion, he is learning just needs a bit more time.
When Eddie first arrived, he did not know commands or what to do with a bone or a chewy cow hoof; and he still does not really know how to play with toys. He now knows basic commands at dinner time, such as, ‘sit’ and ‘wait’. He's not very food driven (re his main meals) but loves treats. He gets a raw chicken neck in the morning and raw beef mince mixed into his kibble to help him along.
Eddie is doing well with his toilet training and knows how to use a doggy door to go out into the yard. Your home will be a new environment for him of couse so you will have to set him up to succeed with this and not just expect him to know where to go in your home.
Advise can be given if needed.
Eddie is doing pretty well at walking on a leash and with continued outings with another dog he will continue to improve and have this nailed in no time at all!
Like all of our dogs, Eddie must have access inside at all times and permitted to cuddle on the couch.
Eddie will still need gentle training and patience from his new family and in return you will be rewarded with lots of love. Eddie will be your perfect cuddle bug!
If you would like to meet Eddy, please send us as much detail as possible on yourself and the home you are able to provide including your location, contact number, your dog and any other pets (if any), family members, lifestyle, exercise and mental stimulation you will provide, how often Eddie would be alone, where he will have access in the home, where Eddie would go if you went away and could not take him with you, ability to cover vet expenses and any other information you wish to provide.
