Sunday - 6 Month Old Miniature Dachshund (Trial)

As a 6 month old pup she has a lot to learn and a lot of love to give.

Sunday is motivated by food and has already mastered many tricks including coming to her name, sit, stay, shake, wait for your dinner, lay and play dead. She is incredibly smart and her eyes light up and she is engaged as soon as its time to learn. Her tricks are an absolute show stopper but more than that indicate a dog who is intelligent and who needs mental stimulation. Her forever home will be committed to continuing to expand on this training.

She is working on toilet training and uses the doggy door at her leisure. She is often seen outside recharging her batteries in the morning sun.

She enjoys play fighting and often re-enacts her favourite WWE wrestling scene with the other small dogs in care…of which she shows great tenacity and often wins! She is probably a slightly submissive pup when first meeting other dogs but gathers courage and confidence quickly and has happy well balanced doggy relationships.

She is fine on the lead and shows no aggression (or yappy behaviour) to other dogs she meets.

She is crate trained and will voluntarily follow her fur sibling into the crate at about 9.30 at night where she doesn’t stir until 6 ish in the morning.

She has had 2 vaccinations and will soon be ready to be desexed, which is included in her adoption fee. She has had an Xray on her back purely as a precautionary measure which shows no signs of anything troubling. She has not been tested for IVDD (which can be found in sausage dogs).

Sunday is not a nuisance barker and she is a very cuddly but vocal pup, often squealing or baking swear words until she is nursed and consoled. She also enjoys a good tantrum when dinner is taking too long or someone is not sharing a toy. She has a ‘go to move’ to try to get out of unwanted situations that resembles a crocodile death roll.

She is not a chewer and shows no signs of destructive behaviour.

So what’s the catch?
• She is not a Christmas present to be enjoyed for a few weeks and then discarded. She has been surrendered previously by owners who didn’t understand that even good looking purebred pups are hard work and need a lot of attention. Sunday is no exception and is possibly even more hard work because she must have the mental stimulation and socialisation.
• She is showing great progress and training, but she is not fully trained. She still has a long way to go.
•Breed considerations
o She should not be allowed to jump off beds, as the breed are prone to back problems.
o She needs a well balanced diet to keep her weight under control

If you are considering applying to adopt Sunday, you should re read this biography and consider the following mandatory criteria:
• Are you committed to an additional family member for the duration of her life? Not just the Christmas holidays.
• Are you able to offer the time required to continue Sunday’s training?
• Are you ok with the fact that she has not mastered toilet training? It’s still a work in progress.
• Are you financially able to provide Sunday with a healthy diet and any unforeseen vet care?
• A secure backyard. Small is fine, but it must be secure.

The following are desirable criteria:
• Do you have a small doggy friend who is size and age appropriate for her to continue practicing for her professional wrestling career?

Sunday is in foster care in Fletcher, NSW and her adoption fee is $1000.

As Sunday is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens areas because he will need to be returned to a DRN approved vet for desexing. Please NO out of area applications.
