About Buddy
Introducing Buddy!
Buddy is a Labrador born 17th October 2022.
Buddy was brought in to the facility as a stray after being found roaming in the bush. Unfortunately he was microchipped to the breeder who advised he had been stolen as a puppy & they weren't able take him back. We believe Buddy wasn't in a loving home during this time as he's very skinny & quite timid. While he has come a long way with staff, he will need a very patient owner who is willing to rebuild his trust in humans & to show him the world isn't always a scary place.
As Buddy is so timid we are recommending a home with no young children as we feel they may be too overwhelming for him while he gains his confidence.
Buddy tested well with other dogs & cats. He would be suitable to live with others, or be a spoilt "only child". If you have a friendly dog at home we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Buddy does appear to have some prey drive so he will need a home with no pocket pets.
Unlike most Labs, Buddy is not food motivated.
Buddy has shown no signs of food aggression or separation anxiety while being at the facility.
He still has so much to learn about the world and life and would love to be in a home where he is included as a member of the family. Buddy will thrive in an environment that guides him with positive direction and lots of love and attention.
Buddy's adoption fee is $800 and includes his desexing and lifetime registration.
Buddy is also regularly treated for flea and worms and is up to date with his vaccinations.

Buddy is looking forward to meeting you and he is currently located in East Maitland.
Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
