About Toot
Introducing the very handsome gentleman called Toot who is looking for his forever home.
Toot is a little senior gentlemen Fox Terrier x (perhaps with a Shetland Collie) Sheltie) who likes a quiet life with a daily walk. His personality is showing more each day with the foster carer and he is now completing joyful morning zoomies. Toot’s favorite things are food and a daily walk of about 30 minutes. He is very food oriented and loves mealtime and treats. He especially likes to share your apple and if you ignore him he gives a gentle tap with his paw. And awww how can you say no lol
He is fairly reserved when meeting new people and happy to give them the benefit of the doubt however he does need time to build trust and new visitors need to just take things slow and not try to over bear him so we feel children are not the best for him
He doesn’t like loud or unfamiliar noises and thunder made him quite anxious. Toot sits while waiting for his dinner and walks very well on the lead and doesn’t pull at all unless he wants to go in the opposite direction to his walker and then he just waits to see who wins lol
He is fairly indifferent to other dogs when walking but is starting to show more interest as his confidence grows a has been polite to some and not to others so we feel he is best suited as an only dog , he ignores birds and hasn’t been exposed to a cat
Toot loves to play with a ball and will fetch it and throw it around for his play time
Toot travels very well in the car and happily jumps in and out of the car. He has been left alone in the backyard and appears to just wait patiently at the door for his human to return but likes to be inside when you are.
. Toot is very gentle when taking a treat out of your hand - he has beautiful manners. Toot has progressed from sleeping outside to when he arrived to now sleeping on the floor next to his foster mum. He would love a doggy door so he can go outside when he needs to. He doesn’t sleep on a dog bed and prefers the floor but occasionally sleeps on the couch. He is toilet trained and only once marked his territory inside.
Toot would enjoy a quiet home with a single person or retired couple who will offer him time and love. He is ok to be left home alone but does love company.
Toot will take time to warm up to his new home and a slow and gentle settling in time will be needed. He allows his foster mum to pick him up etc but this took a good week for her to be able to pick him up.
He despises groomers in a big way and we needed a very gentle and confident groomer to give him a good groom this week as he was terrified
Toot was good for the vets and when we desexed him he also had a full set of blood tests completed and all results were great
Too t as many dogs has sensitive feet to touch and does not allow you to touch his tootsies
Toot is very easy going and doesn't cause any drama in his foster home so would make a lovely companion for someone who lives a quiet life .
He seems to prefer females over males
