Winter Woof Drive... May $200 Reduced Adoption Fee 🐾
💙 Introducing Spike 💙
This precious boy has amazing resilience. Previously Spike was discarded, living his life alone in a back yard without any thought by his owner. We are so proud of the way Spike has bounced back and taken his new life by the reins.
HOUSEHOLD - Spike has a happy go lucky nature and a zest for life. He has been experiencing many firsts while in our care and coping quite well. We have found it takes Spike additional time to warm to male humans which is understandable because his previous male owner constantly yelled at him.
Spikes overall behaviour is good however when excited his jumps up on you which could cause children to be unintentionally knocked over. For this reason a home with older children is advisable.
His new family will need to be understanding of his past and allow him extra time to settle into his new home environment.
ON-GOING TRAINING- Spike already knows some basic commands. One area that he requires further guidance is his jumping up on you. He does this out of excitement and requires correction.
ON LEAD- At the commencement of his walk Spike is rearing to go. He will require a strong owner who can handle his additional pulling until he settles. Many of our volunteers have walked Spike and they adore him.
PLAY/TOYS- Spike loves playing with squeaky toys. He loves them so much he is reluctant to share them with you.
OTHER DOGS- For a boy who has lived a sheltered life, Spike has surprised us by how dog social he is. He has been introduced to a number of his pound buddies and all he wants to do is play. He is still learning his manners but we feel he could be rehomed with an active canine friend who is tolerant of rough play.
CATS/OTHER PETS- Spike was a bit stunned when he was taken into our cattery. He may have never seen a cat before. Spike was not reactive in anyway. With slow, supervised introductions, Spike may be able to live in harmony with a resident feline.
CARE/GROOMING- Spike has a short coat that will require a weekly brush and wash when needed. He enjoys all sorts of handling but he becomes fidgety and wants to play.
EXERCISE- Spike has lots of energy to burn and will require a daily run/ walk plus playtime in his new backyard. He also requires ongoing exposure to the outside world and socialisation with other canine friends. At this stage Spike is not suitable to be taken to off leash areas.
NUTRITION- Spike has no specific dietary requirements.
BREED- Stunning 1 Year Old Staffy X Ridgeback
Spike is located at our Erina Shelter and his $500 adoption fee covers: microchipping, desexing, lifetime registration, current vaccination, flea & worming.
Spike is an extremely good looking young man who deserves a loving home with humans who want to spend lots of time with him. If you can offer this type of lifestyle for Spike, then please lodge your adoption interest online.
