About Edgar
Meet Edgar, a thoughtful and careful cat who was once known as Degas.
Like the famous French artist he was likely named after, Edgar is a deep thinker.
Initially shy, he warms up to become your very own hot water bottle, always ready for a comforting cuddle!
He might even sleep on your shoulder when you lie down, and if you’re lucky, he'll gently place his paws on your lap to sit.
Edgar loves spending his days lounging, but don't be fooled - he has a playful side too. At night, he loves sneaking up to toys for a pounce.
Despite his long coat, Edgar grooms himself so diligently that he barely sheds. When he's hungry, he'll either come to you for an ulterior motive cuddle with or sit politely by his food bowl, waiting for his meal.
Edgar is perfect for a calm, cosy home where he can feel safe and loved, so that he can love you back.

Until the end of May, all our adult cats and juveniles who have been in care over 6 months have their adoption fees reduced from $300 to $150.
Medical notes
Edgar is FIV+, this means his immune system is not as robust as in an FIV negative cat. However, there is now a lot of research and studies that show FIV+ cats can live long, healthy lives just like FIV negative cats, if they receive a high quality diet and routine veterinary care, and live an indoor lifestyle to prevent exposure to harmful parasites and infectious diseases.
FIV negative and positive cats can live together with minimal risk of transmission of FIV. FIV is only transferred via deep bite wounds, not through behaviours such as mutual grooming or through fomites, as the virus can not survive outside the infected cat's body for any length of time.
