Meet Kansas, the cuddle connoisseur with a heart as big as her dream of finding the perfect forever home.
About: Kansas is a sensitive soul, a bit shy and timid, but don't let that fool you – she's a cuddle aficionado! Affection is her middle name, and she's ready to share her love with the lucky family that adopts her.
Kansas is like that adorable friend who's a bit shy at first but blossoms into a social butterfly once you get to know her. She's a pro at cuddles and affection, and her heart is as big as the Kansas sky!
Ideal Home: Kansas is on the lookout for a seasoned dog whisperer with a calm and quiet abode. If you've got experience with our four-legged friends, you could be the hero Kansas has been waiting for!
Kansas dreams of a home with the option to enjoy the great outdoors, in a medium to large yard, surrounded by secure fencing, or be inside with the people she loves most – you!
When the family is home, she'd love to be right there with you whether it be sitting by you as you have your morning coffee, or settling in for a night of binge watching TV.
Family: Kansas is open to meeting kids aged 10 years and up. Reason for this is because she is trying to work on her confidence & older children will have the understanding & patience to allow her to do this. If your household has older kiddos, you might just be the perfect match!
Furry Friends: Kansas is currently rocking the solo act, especially when it comes to other dogs. She shows clear signs of stress when seeing other dogs which make her a bit wary around them. So for now, she would need to be the sole Queen of her castle.
This is not to say that she is not dog friendly, we believe that she lacks the confidence currently and once she has built that up she has the possibility to be dog social.
As for cats, the jury's still out – it's a decision for her future family to make.
Work: Our sweet Kansas is a work in progress, learning the art of sitting and connecting the dots between a sit and a treat. Treats are her love language, and she won't shy away from a gentle jump to ask for more.
Post-adoption training, whether at home or with a professional, should be on the agenda to boost her confidence.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Kansas is a mid-energy gal, and she's got a daily workout routine in mind of at least 30 to 60 minutes of walks or exercise.
Kansas might feel a tad overwhelmed at first when stepping out for a stroll but give her a little time to groove into the walk, and you'll witness the transformation into a walking wonder hound.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
Adoption details
Please remember that the pets we have available sometimes come to us with no history, so we do our very best to get to know them while they are here and to match them to your home. Sometimes animals behave differently outside of the shelter environment, so please do keep in touch after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
