About Kobe
Kobe is a happy and joyful little dog who is on the lookout for his new home. As you can tell from his pictures, Kobe breaks out in a massive grin when he is happy and whenever you look at his adorable, happy little face, you can’t help but smile too. He is the type of dog who will be there to greet you at the door every time you come home, complete with his happy smile and waggy tail. Kobe is a small dog who weighs 5.5kg and is reported by surrendering owners to be a purebred Pomeranian but did not come from a registered breeder.
Kobe can be initially shy, but his true personality is very loving and affectionate. He has not had the most positive experiences with people and handling which has left him cautious around new people. Kobe does well when he is able to meet new people at his own pace and is not forced into handling or contact. Once he feels secure with people, he is a very loving little dog who enjoys affection. Kobe likes to curl up next to you on couch for some snuggle time and will jump up onto your lap for some pats or scratches.
While in foster care, Kobe has been living with 4 other dogs harmoniously, but he has previously lived as an only dog as well. He gets along fine with other dogs but is not going to be a playmate for another dog. Kobe is able to walk with and past other dogs out and about without an issue but would not be suited to off lead dog environments where unknown dogs may rush up to him and overwhelm him. Kobe loves his walks and looks forward to that lead coming out every day. He loves to take his time to explore and take in all the local smells. In addition, he also likes a game of fetch and chasies around the yard.
Kobe is a relatively quick learner and is moderately food motivated. He can sit, drop (lie down), stay and knows a couple of tricks as well. Kobe walks quite well on the lead and doesn’t do too much pulling. He travels well in the car and is crate trained. He sleeps throughout the night in his crate without a peep and will chill in his crate when you go out for a short period of time as well. Kobe’s foster carers have been working on some cooperative care and handling with him which he is doing very well with. He has been groomed while in care and had some mats removed. His new owner will need to continue this training and engage with regular brushing to avoid mats forming so that he can grow out his nice fluffy coat.
We are looking for a home for Kobe who has prior experience with small dogs who have had some behavioural quirks and some knowledge of how to work cooperatively with a dog to ensure that they can build a relationship based on trust. Achieving this relationship with Kobe will allow him to show you what an amazing little dog he is. He is doing very well in his foster home with experienced carers; however, in his previous home and when in inexperienced hands, he was displaying a number of undesirable behaviours. It is for this reason that we will be looking for a dog experienced home for Kobe.
Kobe can live with another calm and easy going dog, or he would do well as an only dog. Regardless, Pomeranians were bred to be companion dogs we will be looking for a home where someone is home most of the time with him. Kobe can bark sometimes when left if unsettled, so is not suitable for a unit or high-density living arrangements. He is pretty chilled out around the home and happy to go off and explore the yard or have a nap on his bed while his foster carers work from home.
Kobe should be allowed inside to be with the family and given a warm comfy bed to sleep on inside at night. We are looking for an adult only home where his new owners can advocate for him and ensure that all of his interactions with people from this point forward are positive and on his terms. He can be easily startled by sudden movements or loud noises so he will do best in a quieter home environment. Kobe will make a wonderful companion for his new owner and will thrive under the right conditions.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
