About Roxi
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE, HOWEVER WE CAN ON OCCASION ARRANGE TRANSPORT BY ROAD TO THE PERTH AREA.
NAME: Roxi
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender
BREED: Mastiff x (Roxi is more medium in size)
Mastiffs are good-natured, affectionate, dignified, and protective - being bred as a guardian to family. He will mature into a calm and quiet dog who loves being with his people. He can be aloof to strangers and wary of unknown dogs so early socialisation with people and dogs is essential. Mastiffs can be mouthy so obedience training and clear boundaries are a must. Mastiffs do not like being alone and are definitely inside dogs that want to be lap dogs if given a chance. If not exercised and lonely they will pine and be destructive. They are not for novice owners.

ASSETS: Affectionate, eager to please, friendly, sweet and playful pretty much sums up Roxi’s personality, she’s a very sweet girl and loves every person she meets!
FAVOURITE THINGS: She loves to be in the car and get out for beach walks. She likes to play with balls and tug ropes and goes to work with her foster carer 3 days a week which she really enjoys. She also likes finding sticks of wood to chew or throw around by herself. She’s super affectionate with her people and loves to lean on or sit next to you.
ENDEARING FEATURES: Roxi has a lovely, sweet nature. She talks in little whines and loves to follow the sun around the yard during the day, often ending up sleeping/lying in some very strange positions to get the most out of the sunshine.
OTHER ANIMALS: She is interested in other dogs but needs slow, supervised introductions initially. She can be choosy in her doggy friends and prefers young, friendly male dogs. She hasn’t been tested with cats so we won’t home her with any small animals.
GENERAL INFO: Roxi will need continued training on the lead as she tugs at present and pulls towards other dogs to suss them out, so we are working on redirecting her focus. She has improved a lot since being in care. She’s house and crate trained and will bark at strangers or other animals. She knows a couple of commands but would benefit from ongoing training as her recall needs consistent work.
ESSENTIALS for Roxi:
** An active, loving home where someone is there more often than not or can take her with them when out.
** She could live with a young, playful, male doggy friend after gentle introductions but would be equally happy being the only dog in the home and getting all of the attention as long as she wasn't left for long periods.
** An owner who will continue to train her and take her to classes where she can socialise and learn some new skills in a safe environment.
** Being a fairly young and active girl, she needs good daily exercise and mental activity so will thrive in an active home that is willing to involve her in family activities.
** Roxi needs a well fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things for her to sniff and explore.
** Roxi loves to be with her people so needs to be allowed inside the home and to sleep inside at night.
Roxi could live with older, dog-savvy, gentle children who are old enough to recognize her signals and give her space when she needs it.
