About Truffle
Truffle is just so darn cute! It’s not just her stunning chocolate and tan coat, but it’s her infectious personality and love of life.
Truffle is a true little companion dog who just loves to be around people. Everyone that she meets falls in love with her and Truffle loves hearing from everyone how adorable she is. She loves getting pats and cuddles from adults and children alike. In fact, she will seek you out to curl up next to you, follow you around or jump up for some attention. She is a happy and playful young girl who brings a lot of joy and happiness to all that meet her.
Truffle is currently living with a large breed dog, and they love to play together or just hang out in each other’s company. Her favourite game is a good rumble, complete with bitey face (and legs!), and they also play with toys they share.
She is reasonably high energy and is a social dog, but she does lack some social skills. She can be a little full on for some dogs’ likings and will try to engage other dogs in play regularly. This means her new owners will need to do slower and more controlled introductions to new doggy friends and ensure to step in if she forgets her doggy manners. She is not suited to off lead dog parks and would be best socialised with friends and family dogs in controlled environments. This will allow her to make a small handful of doggy friends that she can regularly play with in an appropriate manner.
Truffle loves her walkies. She is confident out and about and loves to sniff all the new smells and see all the sights. Truffle has been learning to walk nicely on the lead and likes to walk next to her big foster sibling. She will bark at dogs or people directly approaching you, but not in an aggressive way as there is no lunging and carrying on, we think she just likes to alert that they are coming. As soon as they have passed or are out of sight, she settles straight back into her walk. Truffle is more than happy to accompany you through any type of environment, travels well in the car and is not fazed by new places, so she makes a great companion to go exploring with.
While in care, Truffle has been learning basic training. She is treat motivated and sits nicely to receive her reward. At night, she is sleeping in a crate where she sleeps all night without a peep but does need some coaxing to go to bed as we are sure she would prefer to sleep her humans on their bed! Truffle will benefit from a home with routine and structure to get her in good toileting habits as she hasn’t mastered the skill of how to ask to be let out for a toilet. She has progressed well in her foster home and avoids accidents if taken outside regularly.
Truffle is a great work from home partner as she is happy to be occupied with some toys or something enriching with a Kong if she is not already curled up asleep in a bed next to your feet or in your lap. After work though, this little girl will need to expend that energy, so good walks and mental stimulation daily will be required.
We are looking for a dog experienced and active home for Truffle where she will be included as part of the family. She would do well in a home with another friendly and tolerant dog who can keep her company and show her the ropes. She would also be fine to live as an only dog provided her humans are home most days and you lead an active lifestyle. Regardless of whether she lives with another dog or not, Truffle would love a home where her humans are around more often than not. She does fine left home alone with another dog and some toys for a few hours at a time but is always very keen to see you when you come home. As previously stated, Truffle is good with children so would be fine to live with some dog savvy kids who would not be put off by some jumping up and occasional mouthing behaviour.
Truffle should be allowed to be inside to be with the family and will need a warm comfy bed inside to sleep on at night. She is a small dog who weighs around 7-8kg but will still need a daily walk to keep her happy and healthy throughout her life. Truffle is not a nuisance barker but will alert bark to noises outside or visitors arriving. For this reason, we will avoid units and we do think she would like to have some outdoor space to enjoy as well. Truffle is currently living with multiple cats and has learnt to cohabit with them. She shows no aggression towards them but would like to play with them. There is no reason she cannot live with a dog savvy cat who would not be put off by her attempts to play and where someone can continue to guide her to have appropriate interactions with them.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
