Bud is a sweetheart with a zest for life, looking for a family that matches his enthusiasm for adventure, playtime, and, of course, lots of love.
About: Bud is a confident, outgoing, and oh-so-lovely dog with a heart as big as his playful spirit. His medium to high energy levels make him the perfect companion for those who love an active and outdoorsy lifestyle - whether you're hitting the trails, playing in the yard, or just enjoying a leisurely stroll, Bud is up for any adventure!
His ideal owner will have experience in dog ownership.
One sure-fire way to Bud's heart is through his stomach – he adores treats, especially devon and biscuits! But his love doesn't stop there; Bud is a cuddle enthusiast who thrives on human attention. Head pats, butt pats, and back scratches – he loves them all!
Ideal Home: Bud would love a spacious & secure yard with high fencing. He’d also thrive on having the freedom to explore and play safely, both indoors and outdoors, so that he can get the best of both worlds.
Family: Bud is open to meeting kids aged 5 and up, this is due to his boisterous nature, if you have younger kids, but are still interested, we recommend you give us a call to chat to discuss further.
Furry Friends: At this point in time we recommend that Bud is to be the only dog in the home. He displays clear signs of being uncomfortable when around other dogs. However this may change with guidance from a professional trainer.
Bud's love for the chase means he's not suited for a home with cats or pocket pets.
Work Hard: Bud is a smart cookie, learning to walk nicely on a lead (with a bit of occasional pulling) but continued training at home will help curb his enthusiasm, especially when it comes to his habit of jumping up for attention. He's a quick learner, and with your guidance, he'll be a well-behaved superstar in no time!
Bud may experience a bit of stress when left alone in the home, but he's learning the art of self-soothing and calming when he is on his own – due to this crate training may be a good option for him.
Bud is a work in progress, and post-adoption training will only enhance the wonderful bond you share. His eagerness to please and friendly nature make training sessions fun, and you'll be amazed at the strides he'll make with a little guidance.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play Hard: Bud has a big soft spot for soft toys & will carry them around in his mouth & show staff as they walk past.
As he has medium energy levels he would benefit from daily exercise or walks from 30-60mins – this will ensure his energy needs are met & that he is kept mentally & physically healthy.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
