About Rosty
Calling all big dog lovers this is the boy for you
Rusty just on a year old is the perfect pooch
This sweet boy is a Heeler x and of larger size
Rusty ticks all the boxes of a loving, goofy happy puppalicious boy
Although on the larger size he is just an absolute gem of a dog to hang out with as he is well behaved inside and outside the home. He’s had a decent amount of training so a lot of the hard work has been done which makes him a terrific addition to your family
Favorite things
Doggy friends to play with be it a puppy or older dog
Snoozing
Walks
Running
Hanging out with you
Interaction with humans
Rusty is a polite boy who does get excited to see you but has lovely manners and is not a jumpy boy. He loves all people big and small. Rusty likes to hang out where you are but also happy to be outside if you are home. Rusty is an easy boy to hang out with due to his fabulous manner in the home
Obedience/training
Rusty has some decent training and knows to sit, wait for food, mat, come, leave, good recall off lead most of the time even with other dogs around. He does not run up to every dog and will happily walk past dogs. He does not jump up on furniture and is happy to be told to sit on his mat or bed. He is a big boy so will need a reasonably strong owner if walked on lead but usually this is just as he sets off for his walk then will settle into an amble alongside you. He is very rarely barky unless the neighbor's dog stirs him up.
Animal social skills
Rusty is a lover of dogs of all sizes. Currently being fostered with a grumpy girl, another male and a puppy whom he has worked out all their personalities quite well and has not got a mean bone in his body from what we have observed. He has played zoomies with the pup and tries to play as gently as possible given his size, rough and tumble with the other male and steered clear of Mrs grumpy bum. At the park he is polite in meeting other dogs but does try to instigate play as loves a good chase and to stretch his lanky legs. He has tried to hump the resident male dog a few times and has been put back in his place which he tolerated well. He is not tested with cats or other pocket pets
Independence
Rusty is happy to chill outside during the day while his family heads off to work. He may give a bit of a bark and whine for a few minutes then seems to find a nice spot in the sun to snooze the day away. Rusty has showed no destructive traits whilst in care
Sleeping
Rusty is happy inside or outside to sleep
Currently he likes his mat on the floor in the doggy lounge room. Once asleep you don’t hear a peep out of him all night. Once he hears you stir in the morning he will give a little whine ‘ hey let me in’ in the morning
Car travel
Perfect traveling partner
He jumps into the back seat or boot with no issues
Exercise
Rusty is a dog that needs a good daily walk where he can be let off lead for a bit of a run around. He would suit an active family who love walking or running. He has been out for a few 5km runs and loves it. He is not overly fussed about toys unless you are on the other end of a tug o war rope then he’s happy to give you a good wrestle
Rusty will not be suited to apartment or small unit living
Inside the home
Inside the home Rusty is well behaved, does not jump on the bed or furniture, will go to his mat when told
He will hang around the kitchen though if there is food around hoping for a little morsel to come his way
