About Marty
Marty loves to love. He is an energetic and playful boy. As a rescue, we don't know a lot about his background but he is a very affectionate handsome boy who loves cuddling, belly scratches, and having your attention. This boy loves to learn and engage in interactive games and sniffing activities. He knows basic commands such as sit, stay, shake, drop, roll over and turn.
Marty is listed as Mastiff x but looks more like a staffy x kelpie, perhaps with a little mountain goat mixed in as he is very agile and loves to climb.
Marty can be a little nervous in new environments and with dogs on walks. Additionally, he loves to chase. With consistent training and management approaches he has come a long way and learnt how to deal with his anxiety and chasing instincts, most of the time he can control his urge and not chase birds with a simple "leave it" command. We think Marty is best suited to owners who will have time to continue his training and management approaches and show him the love he deserves. He is best suited to a household of adults or older children, rather than younger children.
Marty loves being in the company of his owners, but is also fine left alone for periods of time. With his current foster carers he enjoys a 3 - 5km walk/run in the morning after which he spends the working day crashed out on the couch. He has another burst of energy in the evening and either has another walk, engages in games or enrichment activities.
If you think you have the time and love to bring Marty into your life and home, he will repay it in spades and be the best life decision you have made.
