About Oleg STA011713
Meet Oleg, a unique and very special feline friend who is steadily discovering the beauty of human kindness. Behind his imposing facade, Oleg is a soft-hearted and tender soul looking for warmth in the world.
Before arriving at our shelter, Oleg has experienced very little human love and kindness. He’s slowly learning to trust and is starting to realise that humans can indeed bring comfort, companionship and love.
From his Foster Home
Oleg is a very sweet cat. He did take a few days to settle but progressed very quickly from being a scared, hiding cat into a welcoming and cuddly young man. He prefers his body being pat not so much his face/head but loves belly rubs. He enjoys sleeping with us on the bed but has no problem sleeping in another room by himself.
Oleg is relaxed throughout the day and doesn’t mind when we leave the home. His favourite spots are the window hammock and his tunnel. If he could, he would play with a laser pointer or a bird toy all day. He is very food motivated, loves his dry food and any kind of puzzle feeder. Being clever, he has quickly learned to shake hands or high five for a treat and is always up to join in on little training sessions.
Oleg doesn’t like loud noises and easily gets scared by fast movement. Oleg enjoys attention but will walk off once he has enough, not a lap cat but one that’ll sit next to you and ask for pats from time to time. We think he would really benefit from having another friendly cat at his new home.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
