About Harmony
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE, HOWEVER WE CAN ON OCCASION ARRANGE TRANSPORT BY ROAD TO THE PERTH AREA.
NAME: Harmony
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender.
BREED: Chihuahua x Pomeranian
BREED TRAITS:
Chihuahua - they love to be with their people and are definitely companion dogs that do not like to be left alone. They are sensitive and love their family but can be aloof or wary of strangers and other dogs so early socialisation is very important. Chihuahuas cannot tolerate cold or hot weather so a warm coat in the winter and care re overheating in the summer is needed - they are not outside dogs. Bright and wilful they will learn if you make it fun and although small, have big personalities. Quick learners, they can compete in agility and obedience trials.
Pomeranian: a small breed that has a confident, curious and spirited nature making them great companion dogs. With a fragile build they require careful handling and supervision around children and larger animals. They have a double coat which requires regular grooming. They are intelligent, affectionate and playful and have a medium energy level. They adapt well to apartment living but not to being alone and need to be kept cool on hot days. Affectionate with family they need to be socialised with dogs from a young age. Pomeranians are an intelligent breed that takes well to training.
****************************************************************************
ASSETS: Shy to begin with, but easy going, affectionate, devoted, eager to please, friendly, sweet and playful once she's comfortable in her surroundings!
FAVOURITE THINGS: Harmony loves to do zoomies around the garden with the other dogs in her foster home and enjoys playing with her rope toys. She loves to be with her people and will follow you around as you go about your day.
ENDEARING FEATURES: Harmony has a lovely, sweet nature and is the most loyal and loving little girl. Her foster carer describes her as a tiny bundle of joy!
OTHER ANIMALS: Harmony gets on well with other friendly dogs and loves their company. She's also great around cats so could live with a dog-savvy feline in her new home.
GENERAL INFO: Harmony walks well on her lead and is house trained. She enjoys getting out and about in the car and will bark at noises or when someone comes to the door. She knows a couple of commands but would benefit from some ongoing training.
ESSENTIALS for Harmony:
** She gets a bit anxious with lots of people coming and going so would prefer a quieter, loving home where someone is there more often than not or can take her with them when they go out. Being a companion dog, she really does like to have her companion around so would suit retirees.
** She would be happy to live with another dog but would do equally well as an only pet, as long as she has regular interaction with other similar sized dogs on a regular basis.
** Harmony needs a fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things for her to sniff and explore.
** Harmony loves to be with her people so needs to be allowed inside the home when you are there and to sleep inside at night.
As Harmony is shy around new people she would be best suited to a family with older children (12+) who can read her signals and know when to give her space and quiet time. She would do equally well in an adult-only home.
If Harmony sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we'll be in touch soon.
