About Spud
** IN FOSTER CARE IN ST PETERS**
Spud (aka Spuddy, Spuddington or the Potato) is the closest thing to a living teddy bear we've seen. This boy loves nothing more than human attention. After a morning stroll and sniff in the park, he likes to spend his days snoozing next to his humans or following them around the house, especially to the kitchen.
MY IDEAL HOME: Spud would suit most households. He gets along with other calm dogs, and could potentially get along with a confident cat. He arrived at Maggie's overweight and needing a lot of dental work, which makes us think he hadn't had a lot of attention before coming to us. This is why he is now on the lookout for a home where he can get a lot of affection, sufficient exercise to maintain his weight, and plenty of belly rubs (which he has recently discovered are the best).
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Spud enjoys his daily walks in Sydney park, where his unique look has gained him a lot of admirers. Despite his age, he likes a decent walk and sniff (20-30 min per day), which is also importwnt for maintaining his weight. Being a pug, he prefers his outings at the cooler hours of the day, after which he is happy to just chill at home.
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Spud would prefer a home with dog savvy children, where he can get a lot of attention, but would also have some space to relax.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: In his foster home he lives with a 9 year old female Boxer cross without issue. He is generally good with other relaxed dogs. In the park, he has shown a little reactivity towards some male dogs, which could be due to him being desexed later in his life. However, he is extremely smart and food motivated, which makes us think this is something he can work on. He has briefly met cats and has shown no interest in them, which means he may do well with a confident kitty sibling.
Medical notes
Whilst in our care Spud underwent BOAS surgery at VSOS to help widen his nostrils and shorten his soft palate. He has now received the all clear and can breath with ease :)

For Dogs: https://form.jotform.co/80677377750872
Please use these links rather than the 'Enquire' button on the pet's PetRescue profile to streamline your enquiry.
Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
Please consider, that a Maggie's Pet is a pet for Life, before adopting.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
