About Prim Yarbury
TO APPLY FOR ADOPTION PLEASE SEND IN APPLICATION FORM AVAILABLE BELOW:
https://www.victoriandogrescue.org.au/about-vicdrg/adoption-and-foster-application-forms.html/
Prim is a happy friendly girl who has been well-loved all her life. She is now looking for her forever family due to a change in circumstances beyond her control.
A loving pup who adores affection from people of all sizes, Prim takes a relaxed approach to life. She enjoys her daily walks, travels well in the car, sits politely for her dinner, and likes to have a few toys on hand to play with. Prim is a prime couch potato and is more than happy to chill with her people and snooze through the day. With all the snorts, snuffles and occasional farts of her kind, Prim would make a delightful addition to the soundtrack of your life.
Prim is housetrained and knows how to use a doggy door, although she may have a short adjustment period and need some gentle encouragement while she settles into her new digs. In foster care, Prim has been left inside for a few hours a few times a week and appears to be relaxed about the comings and goings of the household. Prim is okay around other dogs, although not super interested in them. She is untested with cats.
Prim seems unused to inner urban life and has shown the occasional tendency to freeze when passing shops and cafes, meeting dogs face to face on walks, and navigating some steps (but not others) in her foster home. This timidity is usually a sign of lack of exposure. Given Prim’s trusting nature and friendliness, we are confident these tendencies can be easily overcome with further exposure and some confidence building activity and encouragement from her forever people.
Prim is a happy healthy girl ready to join her new pack. She will do well in a variety of situations, including townhouse or apartment living, provided she has regular exercise and toileting opportunities. Prim will probably be okay being in a family where people are out for periods for work or play, provided she gets her exercise and has plenty of social time, love and cuddles when her humans are home. Like all Frenchies, Prim will always need indoor access with climate control during the warmer months, whether she is home alone or with her people. If you are looking for a people-focused canine love bug to join your home, Prim is waiting to meet you.
Please note: our dogs are not available for interstate adoption. We also do not adopt to people under the age of 25 years.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

Please note that we do not take/make telephone calls prior to receiving an application.
Commonly asked questions and their answers are provided when you email us. Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
We look forward to receiving your application.
