About Rissole
*In foster care in Tempe, SydneyRissole came to Maggie’s as a private surrender, while she hadn’t seen much of the world she came from a multi dog house which included large breeds so has been well socialised in that regard. Rissole is an affectionate girl who bonds easily with humans. She will always be the girl hanging at the back of the pack to check out a situation before getting involved. This little girl is equal parts sweet and sassy, having a big opinion one minute (usually about a resident dog or the sound of loud children running past the house) and then snuggling up under your chin to cover your neck in kisses the next. She’s also a big fan of shoes particularly ones she can pickup and parade around with like slippers. Rissole would love a home with a small backyard or courtyard so she can pursue her interests in sun baking, checking out the garden plants and hunting lizards (she’s very bad at it but enthusiastic). She is suitable for apartment living with an indoor toilet setup but please expect alert bark management to begin with, poms are a very vocal breed so if you are looking for a dog who is guaranteed to never bark poms are not for you.
Her colour would be called orange sable and she is good for grooming allowing handling in any area of her body including nail trims. Pomeranians don’t require brushing every day but at least twice a week detailed brushing to get into their double coat is non negotiable. Rissole is still working on sitting still for teeth brushing, poms are prone to dental decay so her forever home should be willing to work through this. Rissole hasn’t shown signs of separation anxiety however if going to a solo home this will be her first time completely alone so expect adjustment and plan your work schedule to allow her to ease into full days away. Rissole has mastered toilet training and the art of the doggie door in foster. She is a very smart girl and will absolutely smash training goals once settled in, she walks well on the leash and has started learning basic obedience in foster. Since she’s still a baby there’s lots for her to learn so a home willing to engage with force free training will be the key.
Like all Maggie's pets, Rissole is microchipped, desexed and vaccinated.

MY IDEAL HOME: Her ideal home will be with someone who has an understanding of the pom breed behaviour traits with a backyard or small courtyard though apartments will also be considered. If the home is without other animals someone who works from home part or all of the week would be great, she may be suited to a full time office worker if allowed to ease into this routine over a month plus.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Rissole can be a bit of a couch potato, she enjoys play sessions and walks but quickly settles down if you’re wanting to chill or work. Even though she’s a chiller daily outings are needed to keep a happy and healthy mind and body so homes should plan for a min of a 30 min outing everyday.
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: We feel her preference at the moment would to be child free at least until she’s an established adult and more confident around young kids. Homes with kids aged 12 and over who are gentle and will not pursue her for constant contact / picking up will be considered.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: Rissole has lived with small, medium and large dogs but is only a small girl (probably 3.5kg full grown). She is ideal as a solo dog but homes with a max of one other dog which is size and energy level matched will also be considered as long as the humans are experienced in managing pack integration. If going to a solo home she should keep up controlled and safe socialisation while out in the world, if going to home with another dog you must be prepared to mange her bossy tendencies while everyone settles in. She’s never met a cat properly but given her reserved nature and demure size living with a cat could be a match as long as her home manages the introduction well.

We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
