About Prue
This little pocket rocket is Prue, weighing in at a mere 2kgs, she is small but definitely very mighty! She has recently had one of her legs amputated due to an injury that could not be repaired, but this definitely doesn’t slow her down.
When Prue arrived at Lort Smith she was showing a lot of fear-based behaviours. She has been in foster care for the past month recovering from her leg amputation and growing in confidence. She has improved greatly in a home environment but her new humans will need to continue to work on her behaviour.
Prue is looking for an experienced, adult only home who will commit to putting in the work to help her continue to gain confidence. She is not the best match for children under the age of twelve or as a first time dog.
Despite her size, Prue is amazing with dogs of all sizes, even if they are giant. She really loves to play and will try to start a game of tug of war with a toy. She is still learning that some dogs don’t want to play all the time, so if she was to go into a home with other dogs, they would need to be tolerant of her energy and want to play. She would also need to be matched with a dog that would be gentle enough to not accidentally bowl her over.
It would be great if her new humans would take her to training or get a trainer to come into their home to help start them off on the right foot with confidence building and socialisation, so that she can grow into a well-balanced little pup.
Prue does not cope being left alone for long hours. Her new humans would need to be home quite a bit, working from home or retired would be ideal. They would also need to continue to work on independence training and helping her learn to settle on her own for longer periods.
Once Prue is comfortable in her home, she is super sweet and loves to cuddle on the couch. She is such a joy to live with!
Being a poodle mix, Prue will require regular grooming to keep her coat nice and tidy.
If you have the time for a shy little pooch who will flourish in the right environment, we would love to hear from you. Please fill out an expression of interest form in as much detail as possible and Prue will have her foster humans get in touch with you!
