About Jesse
Jesse is a stunning, agile and nimble Border Collie.
She has all of the classic traits of a Border Collie and a very high drive to work and please her people.
Jesse came from a farm in the Hunter as a puppy. She is obviously of very strong working lines; she loves to run and run, she adores playing fetch with a ball, loves playing tug of war with toys, and she can jump and leap incredibly to catch a Frisbee or ball. She is a very impressive and stunning dog.
Jesse really prefers human company over the company of other dogs, although she does have another Border Collie friend who she gets along very well with so she may be suited to living with another Border Collie.
Jesse has not coped well with living in a very built up and suburban area. She can be reactive to other dogs, and she has a tendency to guard or protect her resources. She does not like to be approached by other dogs but is generally happy to walk past them at a good pace. She also walks beautifully using a halti, and a gentle leader harness. She doesn’t feel relaxed in loud, busy environments like cafes.
She needs a family who understands her breed and her needs, and are willing to love and accept her for the amazing companion she is, in the right environment for her. She is lovely with kids of primary school age and has spent plenty of time with them. She hasn’t been around newborns or kids under 5.
She reacts to loud motorbikes and has a tendency to try and heard them. She also does this with birds in the garden in the evenings. Jesse has coexisted well with a cat, but again, occasionally has the tendency and urge to heard.
Jesse would love nothing more than to live in an open space where she can be free to run, work, help around the property and go on amazing runs with her owner in a quiet, safe space. She does not like being exposed to the busyness and constant over-stimulation of suburbia, she craves the quiet country life. She’d also love to live with a family who understand her needs, and are willing to take her to fly ball or agility classes.
Jesse is an extremely cuddly, loving, sweet and affectionate dog with her human family. She loves to cuddle up with you on the couch or rest her paws and chin in your lap. She is also remarkably intelligent and highly trainable. She knows many tricks and is eager to please her owners. With someone who understands the needs of a true working Border Collie, she would be a beautiful, loving companion.
She is also unbelievably cute and very cuddly and small, at just 15kg.
Jesse’s current family love her dearly, but recognise the need for her to live in a quieter environment and in a place where her needs as a working dog are understood and nurtured. They only want the very best for her and for her to be happy and relaxed in her home environment.
Medical notes
Jesse has Nexgard Spectra every month, a tapeworm tablet every three months, an annual Leptospirosis, and an annual C5 vaccine.
She comes with a clean bill of health. She has never had any injuries or health concerns and she is a perfect weight.
Jesse currently takes Fluoxetine 40mg once daily. With the right home and family, we are confident that she can be gently weaned off this medication following the advice of a vet. She has only needed this to cope better in her current home environment.
