About Coco
Coco is for lovers! She is a gooey, happy, affectionate little (ok…medium-to-large-sized) cuddlebug and the sweetest, most loving girly you could ever meet. After being saved from death row in a rural pound, Coco asks for so little but deserves so much.
She is a quick learner and thrives on being the goodest girl. She was toilet trained in minutes (zero accidents!) and learnt almost immediately to use the doggie door. She is calm, quiet and never destructive when left alone. She LOVES to be around people – if you are home she is so happy to just to chill with you.
Her history means she is still discovering the world, especially big-loud Sydney – but she approaches every challenge with curiosity and with a little encouragement her confidence grows every day. After a long stint in the pound, she deserves the opportunity to find the good in the world and discover it on her own terms. This means she needs a commitment to ongoing training (and of course lots of company and cuddles).
And this is all without even mentioning her lush silver merle coat <3 Snap her up before she realises how good-looking she is!
MY IDEAL HOME: A home that continues building her confidence by offering her love, reassurance and consistency will be rewarded with the best mate you could ever have.
Coco is super adaptable – she would love it if you’re at home a lot (her foster uncle works from home a few days a week and she chills quietly in the room with him), but is also fine to be left alone while you’re at work, as long as she has enrichment and a predictable schedule.
She is an indoor/outdoor dog in her foster home and it would be great if this can continue. While she is young and active, she would manage well with a smaller yard. With the right family (if someone is home most of the time) she could manage in an apartment with an outdoor space provided she gets regular walks and lots of company. In her foster home she hangs out in the front yard for much of the day and calmly watches the world go by. We don’t even know what her bark sounds like, she’s so quiet and easy-going.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Given a calm environment with a gentle family Coco is a chilled out girl. She is gentle, friendly and a little bit reserved with strangers but when she gets to know you she insists on cuddles. And when she gets the zoomies she GETS. THE. ZOOMIES. This is mostly due to her young age and history, and her ideal family will understand that it will take a little time to help her recover from the stress of the pound.
She is happy with a short walk once or twice a day. She has learnt to walk well on leash in quiet areas and loves a good sniffari. In busy areas she mostly wants to be by your side and is good with people, but can get over-excited around dogs. When the tug toys come out she can get a bit boisterous, but she is learning very quickly to wait nicely before initiating play.
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Coco is friendly and curious with children, but a little unsure, so it would be better if she lived in a household with no kids or older, dog savvy kids – she can be bouncy when excited. In her foster home she lives with older people and has hung out with kids and is very gentle with them.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: She is dog social and very playful but would be happiest being the only dog (at least at first) – she is still young and building her social skills and confidence. A household with a calm, tolerant, older dog could also work and she lived with a dog in a previous home with no issues. She is being fostered with two resident dogs and practicing being calm around them. She is learning quickly, but will need ongoing training and socialisation.
Coco hasn’t lived with cats but doesn’t make a fuss when she encounters them on walks.

We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
