About Corky
While in care, Corky has been lucky enough to join a busy household, so he has been exposed to many new things. He is very affectionate and is always up for a cuddle or pat. While he is just old enough to start getting out and about safely, he has been enjoying some outings and going new places and of course meeting new people. He has also been enjoying car rides and is always up to join his family on an adventure. He will need owners who understand he needs gentle and continual exposure to new places and environments to ensure he continues to grow into a well natured and confident dog.
Corky has been living with 2 large breed dogs in foster care and absolutely loves other dogs. He loves a good game of licky face or cuddling with the resident dogs. One of his foster siblings is happy to participate in all of his puppy antics, whereas the other one is a bit older and not so tolerant. He is a little bit slow at reading passive dogs’ cues that enough is enough, so does need some reminding not all dogs enjoy his sloppy kisses. He would love to share his home with another dog, so any resident dogs should either enjoy playing or be happy to receive puppy love. Due to his age, he hasn’t had many chances to socialise outside of the house so will need a new owner committed to ensuring his socialisation is continued. It is important that he is given positive socialisation experiences with other dogs, ideally in the form of play dates with other friendly and appropriate dogs rather than at dog off lead areas where the other dogs are unknowns. Corky is expected to be a large sized dog who will be relatively active as an adult so will require daily exercise to keep him happy and healthy.
Corky has started basic training and is picking new things up quickly- he is VERY food motivated so will enjoy continuing to learn new things. He has started crate training and sleeps through the night in his foster carers room happily overnight. He has been left home alone (with the other resident dogs) with no issue. His toilet training is coming along well, but his foster carers still need to be diligent to ensure they are not letting him free roam when unsupervised. He has started leash training and is doing well. He does need normal puppy supervision while he continues to learn right from wrong.
Corky is currently in care with two young children and absolutely enjoys being involved in all the princess games on offer. He is, as a lot of puppies do, going through a play biting phase which is mostly brought out by kids hands flailing around! He is easily redirected and it’s not a regular occurrence, but his new owners will need to stay on top of this puppy behaviour. This is important for any families with children applying as he will likely mouth their hands if excited or tired. Corky will be fine as an only dog or with other dogs in the household. Regardless of the addition of other dogs in the household, he will need someone home more often than not as he is a young puppy who should not be left alone for hours on end. If there are other dogs in the household, they should be over 2 and not be offended by his puppy attempts to play. He should be fine to integrate with other species of animals due to his age and super adaptable nature.
We are looking for a dog experienced home for Corky where he will be a part of the family and be provided with lots of gentle exposure to new places, people and dogs. Corky should be allowed inside to be with the family and will need a bed to sleep on inside at night. He would absolutely love a home where he is allowed on the couch for some snuggles too!
Corky is such an amazing puppy and gets compliments wherever he goes. He has a very stable nature which make him very easy to adjustable to new situations. He will make an incredible family dog and will give you years of loyalty and fun in return. If you are interested in making corky a member of your family, then please apply by completing a Dog Adoption Enquiry form on the Fetching Dogs website as the first step. This puppy will be adopted out under a desexing contract that will require the dog to be desexed by a given age. The cost of desexing will be included as part of the adoption fee. A $250 desexing bond will be payable in addition to the adoption fee and will be refunded upon proof of desexing. This process is further discussed with successful applicants.
Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
