We'd like to introduce you to the one and only Gumby – a four-legged dynamo of fun and energy waiting to bring boundless joy into your life.
About Me: A social butterfly with an independent streak, Gumby is sure to steal your heart with his confident and outgoing nature.
Gumby is not just a dog; he's a big boof with a heart as large as his head! This handsome fella is the life of the party, whether you're hosting a bustling get-together or enjoying a quiet night in. His adaptable nature makes him a perfect fit for families, singles or couples.
Ideal Home: Gumby dreams of a place where he can bask in the best of both worlds – a comfy indoor spot to chill and an exciting outdoor playground. He'll need a medium to large yard with medium to high secure fencing to keep his adventures contained & allow him to play safely.
Family: Gumby is a big-hearted pup who would be best suited with children aged 5 years and up. However, keep in mind his enthusiasm – he may accidentally knock over smaller kiddos, thinking he's a lap dog. So, if you have energetic youngsters ready for a playmate, Gumby is the perfect match.
A part-time worker? No problem! Gumby is adaptable and understands the importance of work-life balance.
Furry Friends: Gumby shines brightest when surrounded by humans. While he's not quite sure about his furry counterparts, his love for people is unmatched.
His behaviour in the shelter sees that he prefers humans over other dogs but outside of the shelter we could see something completely different. He seems very unsure of other dogs & tends to stress when he sees them.
Gumby's high prey drive means he's not suited for feline friends. However, if you're looking for a dog-centric household, he's your guy!
Work Hard: This boy is a foodie at heart. He'll do just about anything for a tasty treat, making him an eager learner during training sessions.
A wiggle wart at times, Gumby could use some guidance, such as post-adoption training in basic commands, like sitting and leash walking. With treats in hand, he's a focused and motivated learner.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play Hard: If you're the kind of person who loves the great outdoors, Gumby is your ideal companion. He's all about that active lifestyle and is ready to hit the trails, parks, and beaches with you. From lively walks to adventurous hikes, Gumby is your go-to partner for all things outdoors.
Gumby is the perfect workout partner, always ready for 30-60 minutes of daily exercise and walks. Whether it's a game of fetch or a brisk jog, he's up for the challenge.
Gumby's love for chasing tennis balls is unparalleled. Get ready for hours of entertainment as you watch him zoom across the yard in pursuit of his favourite toy.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
Adoption details
Please remember that the pets we have available sometimes come to us with no history, so we do our very best to get to know them while they are here and to match them to your home. Sometimes animals behave differently outside of the shelter environment, so please do keep in touch after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
