About Zara

Beautiful Zara has just turned 6 years old, and whilst we wish it was a happy birthday celebrating with her family, she spent it in a kennel. Zara’s birthday wish is for a forever family to take her home, to find her perfect humans that will love her unconditionally for the rest of her days. We hope to make her wish come true very soon.
Zara has had a tough start to life, being bounced around from home to home due to no fault of her own, she hasn’t been well taken care of and has clearly had at least 1 litter before. Zara’s coat was in extremely poor condition, she was limping and ravenous for our treats, we were given an urgent ultimatum to collect Zara, how could we say no?
Zara is the friendliest girl that loves meeting new people, especially when treats are on offer, she will sell her soul for some yummy treats and will show off all her best tricks including sit, drop and shake paw. Zara is very affectionate and cuddly, however after being bounced around so many homes, she gets a little jealous when the attention isn’t on her. Zara needs clear boundaries in her new home, she needs to learn that there is plenty of love for everyone and that the humans are the boss, not Zara. Whilst Zara loves little kids, she gets excited when they run around and will nip at them, and gets jealous, she will need a forever home where everyone is over the age of 12 years old.
Zara loves to learn and is very responsive to her name, she is still working on her leash manners – walks are not something she has ever had much of. Zara thrives when she is told she is a good girl and would do well fine-tuning and upskilling her obedience and manners using positive reinforcement training. Zara has a quick mind; training will help to keep her stimulated and engaged with her new human.
Zara is still a big puppy at heart, she LOVES playing with toys and her life mission is to kill every squeaky toy. Zara will need plenty of mental stimulation through enrichment toys and games, she is an active girl that would love regular walks, sniffing every bush and tree is her favourite activity! Zara loves going in the car and will hop right in as soon as the door is open, she would love to join her humans on adventures and activities.
Zara is conflicted around other dogs, whilst she has previously been ok with others, she has been exposed to some not so nice dogs recently and is very unsure and defensive when faced with a new dog walking past, giving them a big bark to voice her concern. Zara would be best as the only pet in her new home and will need to slowly build up her confidence around other dogs.
Zara is not suited to a home with cats or other small pets, she has not been tested with livestock.
Zara is looking for a breed experienced family that will take her in and provide her unconditional love, she needs reminding of her manners and will need firm but fair boundaries in the home to set her up for success. This beautiful girl would love to cuddle up to your feet inside and have a warm bed of her own to snuggle in, these are all small things she has never experienced before.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
Mature (1 year to 6 years) - $600
Senior (7 years plus) - $350
