About Petunia
Introducing the gorgeous and lovely Petunia!
Petunia is a 6 year and 4 month old Toy Poodle
Petunia is an ex-breeding girl who has now retired and since coming into care has blossomed into a lovely girl.
Since coming into care Petunia has been experiencing a lot of firsts and just makes us so proud each day.
The rescue has ensured that Petunia's days of breeding are no longer and they have desexed as well as Petunia will be having dental (extractions and a clean) in the next few weeks so will need to come back to our vet for a day for this to be completed.
As Petunia didn’t have a lot of human socialization until she came into care (and then got it in spades) she is wary of meeting new people – so anyone who meets her MUST give her the time to adjust and come up to them on her timeframe.
Petunia is looking for a quiet home with either older teenage kids or adults only simply as she can sometimes still be shy. She is also looking for a home where there is someone home more often than not – either shift work, part time, work home, not needing to work, retired etc.
Petunia weighs 4.2kgs
Petunia is currently living with two other medium to large size dogs and she is okay with them, she is much more used to and comfy with smaller dogs, and would love a home life where she gets attention and not squished if getting cuddles from other dogs.
Petunia would benefit from having another small breed dog at the home for when you go out – she does not have separation anxiety but does like to be with company.
Petunia has started to show some interest in playing fetch but does prefer a tiny tennis ball as the standard size are a bit big for her dainty mouth.
Since coming into care Petunia has discovered that sometimes her humans have really yummy dinner and she will never pass up the opportunity for cooked meat that you want to share.
Petunia is now looking for her forever home where she can enjoy playing with another dog and being very much a part of the household and family.
Petunia is still learning noises outside of the home and learning lead training but loves to go for a small walk
Petunia’s ideal home would be where she can be inside as much as her little heart wants and have access outside for lady business and some play and sunbaking. Petunia would not cope being a dog who was expected to spend hours outside
Petunia does like to sleep with one of her humans (and she will bond tightly to one more then another)
Once Petunia is confident and comfortable with you she will love a good cuddle on the couch while you’re watching tv or cooking she will be an awesome couch warmer for you.
Petunia is toilet trained but may have an accident or two when going to a new house – she will just need a few days to settle and shown the outside to do her business.
Petunia is learning to use stairs but if you watch her she will head back down to the bottom of the stairs – ignore her and she will have no issues using them.
Petunia is also living with a cat with no issues and birds in a cage.
Petunia does have a coat that requires regular grooming so please make sure that you do remember that it’s a life time of grooming.
Petunia is looking for a home where she will be allowed the time to settle and her humans will continue to help her confidence grow and be cherished like she should be – are you that home?

Please note - We don't take calls on adoption enquiries - an application must be completed

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 10 day trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $100) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD
After the 10 day trial period is completed Paw Prints Canine will send out all relevant paperwork for your new furbaby via email including the transfer of microchip form.
