Mayo is a fun-loving, enthusiastic boy who loves nothing more than being with his people. He is the ultimate companion - he loves travelling in the car and often sticks his nose out the window with a smile on his face 😁 , he loves going to local cafes and gets excited when he knows that we are about to leave the house! Mayo is happiest when he is with people and is very well-behaved when out and about. People often comment on how calm he is as he will sit and wait for pats from his admirers.
People often ask about his breed while he is out and about as he is so handsome! Our best guess is that he is a Bull Arab cross with maybe some Greyhound/Whippet in him. He does have fast legs and loves running.
At home, Mayo is toilet-trained, will wait for his food until allowed to eat it and sleeps through the night. He is also happy to sleep in his crate overnight. Mayo loves anything soft and fluffy - he adores stuffed toys and loves running around with them in his mouth - and of course destroying them 😂. Squeaker balls are the best fun for him and he will run laps while squeaking them in his mouth! He is incredibly affectionate and delights in evening cuddles with the adults and teenagers in his foster home.
Mayo walks well on a Halti headcollar and knows some basic commands. He is eager to please and is young enough to learn new things. He would definitely need to attend some form of dog obedience training with his new owners as it's important for him to establish clear boundaries in his new household from the get go. He has had a couple of sessions with our volunteer dog trainer and has responded really well to this training.
Mayo's ideal home would have someone who is home most of the time, or be willing to invest in a dog walker or occasional doggy day care. He requires a bit of exercise each day, ideally with space to run - he currently gets two long walks a day. Mayo does not like cats but may get used to them with patient training. A doggy pal to play with would be a bonus as he is a very sociable boy!
Mayo is a gorgeous dog who would suit an active family that also enjoys furry cuddles. He makes us laugh and has an adventurous spirit. Our family is going to feel very empty when he leaves! If this sounds like a great fit for you please reach out to find out more about this handsome boy.
