About Kelly
Please only apply for this greyhound if you have:
- A home where people are home more often than not
OR
- A doggie companion
Sweet quiet Kelly came to us a vet shy and timid girl who just wanted to be invisible however within a week she had broken so many barriers it was like watching a chicken hatch from an egg!
She is now loving her big soft bed, and fluffy Pjs. She prefers to sleep in the family room for now, but come morning she has now begun bouncing up to our bedside for a pat and cuddle. Kelly has learnt her name and has great recall. She loves a routine with her toileting and happily sleeps through the night. Kelly is still learning about toys but is easily infected by other houndies' excitement and follows their lead. Kelly can be left alone with no surprises when you return. She will find one place in the garden and create little pod for herself.
Out and about, Kelly is now loving exploring her neighbourhood, ears up, eyes alert, inquisitive and eager to learn about her new world. Kelly thrives on routine and loves her morning walk, preferring to toilet on her walk than at home. Kelly is easy to feed, loving her tucker now that she has learned about a varied diet. She will climb a tree for a bit of liver! She has learnt to relax around all the loud noises of traffic, busy roads, and busy footpaths, passing prams, kids on bikes and the likes, all on a loose lead. She still needs work with stairs.
Kelly has been on a couple of greyhound walks and loves them! If you hold up her harness or t shirt she tries help you dress her by putting her head in. So cute and willing.
She has beautiful manners and greets other dogs calmly. She has been very inquisitive when meeting new breeds, but has loved everyone she has met from those at ankle height to big breeds and even horses. Anytime there has been any argy bargy between other dogs or when dogs bark at her she has always responded by moving away. She also likes people, from the littlies to us bigger ones.
Kelly Looooves car travel and will settled and relaxed before you get out of the driveway.
Kelly’s ideal home would be in a calm environment where someone, human, K9 or both were home much of the time. She is happy just hanging out and observing her new world.
[Note: Under Victorian Law greyhounds must be on-leash at all times in public areas, including in off-leash parks or ovals]
