About Ruby - 2 Year Old Mixed Breed (Trial)
Ruby is an ever ready bundle of energy and love. She loves life and lives it to the fullest. She looooves the beach so much that’s she asks her new forever home is someone who will take her to the beach regularly so she can run free, swim, sniff, roll in the sand, dig and help make sandcastles. She loves to meet other small dogs on the beach, she loves to play with them and splash in the waves. She is not a fan of big dogs yet and she will quickly return when called.
At her foster carers home she is happy to cuddle up on the lounge or roll her ball around the floor. Ruby can also be a couch potato and is happy to curl up next to you for cuddles, she has so much love to give and personality rolled in one little dog.
She also loves to go for rides in the car, and would love to go for walks every day, she can be a little excited when she first starts out but soon settles and walks well.
Ruby is very smart and knows basic commands like, sit, stay, and wait, she will also return to her bed when told. Ongoing training is needed, even though she can do these things she doesn’t stay long.
Ruby is house trained and has never had an accident in the house, her foster mum has no problem leaving her in the house when she goes out for short periods of time. Since she has been in care she has never been left outside. Roo has learnt the doggy door which allows her access to the yard when needed.
When Ruby gets excited, she jumps up and wants to play but she is working hard on improving this and will need a family willing to continue her training in this area. No small children please whilst she is learning how to be more controlled and calmer.
Ruby sleeps all night in her little bed next to her foster carer.
Ruby would make a fabulous companion for a family, couple, or single person, with someone at home most of the time. She would love to go on holiday with you. She just wants to be wherever you are.
She will need a secure yard with fences at least 1.5 meters high. She is not a digger or climber.

A poem from her Foster Carer:
Ruby Roo
My mind is a blur, so I cannot say
What happened before that dreadful day
Left at the pound told my name was Roo
That was all anyone knew
Too scared to eat I couldn’t chew
I’m sorry that I growled at you
Then one day the ranger came
He took me to a place so strange
A foster home he found for me
Would I be safe? Would I be free?
At first I was very scared when people came to visit
Now I found kind people that have lifted up my spirit
I get so excited when the knock comes to the door
My tail won’t stop wagging and I jump around the floor.
My Foster mum’s so proud of me
She thinks I’m just a Gem
Now she calls me Ruby Roo,
I’m happy she’s my friend.
I have learnt to use a doggy door
Can let myself in and out
I love to run around the yard
Never leave a mess in the house
I try to be a good girl
To learn my lessons quick
Like not to jump up on the beds
Then know when I’m told to sit
I have my own little bed
Next to my foster mum
Will sleep right through the night
Until I see the sun
I would love to give you kisses and cuddles
All the day
But know when you are busy
I need to stay away.
Don’t think that I’m not watching
I will follow where you go
A bond so strong, it means so much
I have to let you know
I am looking for my forever home
Someone to love me for all time
Never to be scared again
A place that I call mine.
