About Oreo and Checkers
Darling duo, Oreo and Checkers, sat down with Home2Home to chat about this next exciting chapter in their lives, and what they're looking for in an adopter! Read our exclusive interview below!
Q: What do you value most in a human?
Oreo: Companionship! Pats, playtime and being best mates. That’s what it’s all about!
Checkers: For me, it’s all about kindness and respect. I’m a bit sensitive. It means the world to me when my people understand that and are gentle with me.
Q: It’s Friday night! What are your plans?
Checkers: Oh, that’s easy. I’ll be watching television with my people on the couch. I’ll be snuggled up on their lap, it’s my favourite place in the world!
Oreo: Yeah, me too. At first, I was going to say curled up in a cosy spot with Checkers, but…yeah, that’s a tough call. I might choose the couch too! A tasty dinner and a bit of TV time with the family. What could be better than that!
Q: Speaking of food. What food best describes you?
Oreo: An Oreo, of course. I’m small and sweet, and the best bit of me is what’s on the inside!
Checkers: Did you say food? Where’s the food? I’ve only had two breakfasts today, I’m practically starving!
Q: Your humans have just returned home. What’s your go-to move?
Oreo: Oh, you’ve gotta give your people a bit of a welcome party, don’t you? A few barks and kisses is a simple way to show you care.
Checkers: Yeah, I like to wag my tail really fast too! That’s what scores you the pats and cuddles you know.
Q: What makes a good backyard?
Checkers: It’s nice to have a bit of space to run and play, and a secure fence to keep us safe. Now that I’m getting a bit older I don’t mind skipping my walk some days as long as I have a nice backyard to run and play safely in.
Oreo: Yeah, and I like grass. It’s great for sniffing and is all soft to lay on. A grassy backyard with some patches of sun throughout the day is ‘the dream’.
Q: Who’s the bravest?
Oreo: Me.
Checkers: Oreo.
Q: You’re out for a walk, and you spot another dog. What do you do?
Checkers: Oh, I don’t get worked up about things like that. Oreo can be a bit feisty with other dogs, but not me.
Oreo: Look, I'm just a dog who enjoys my walks in peace. Sometimes, if a dog gets too close, I might politely bark to ask them to give me space, but I love with when my people have my back and manage those situations for me. That way, I can relax and enjoy all the wonderful smells on our adventures!
Q. You two were litter mates. What’s the best thing about still being together after all these years?
Checkers: Oreo isn’t just my big brother. He’s my best friend. He’s annoying sometimes, mostly when he ‘accidentally’ lays on my head. But he’s also the one to greet any visitors and let me know if they’re friendly. He’s a great play buddy, and he’s just a good boy! I can’t imagine life without him.
Oreo: I mean, as far as little sisters go, Checkers has gotta be the best around. I have to let her win sometimes when we’re playing in the backyard or wrestling around, but that’s okay, I guess. She licks my ears and lays next to me to keep me warm, she’s just really nice. I can’t imagine life without her.

Medical notes
Oreo and Checkers have recently had their annual check-up and vaccinations. They are perfectly happy and healthy senior dogs. Oreo has some hearing loss, but this doesn't mean he won't know you're opening a packet of chips!

Adoption details
When enquiring about a pet listed with Home2Home, your enquiry goes directly to the pet’s owner - the person who knows them best!
It’s a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the pet, including its likes and dislikes, needs, and how it may fit into your lifestyle and family.
From here, the owner will be in touch with you to chat a bit more about their pet, and if they feel your home is the best fit, they will arrange a ‘meet and greet’ for you all to get to know each other.
Should this prove successful, arrangements will be made for the pet to move straight from its current home into yours upon payment of the adoption fee.
The adoption fee is paid directly to PetRescue (via a secure payment link), and assists us to continue to run and develop programs to assist pet owners, just like Home2Home.
Change of Ownership paperwork will be completed, vetwork history will be provided and your new family member will be snuggled on your couch in no time!
