About Blue
Blue is almost 5 years old and has had a rough start in her young life, she looks much older than she is, because of the neglect she has endured. Blue has found herself in the pound, her owner travelling overseas… plans for Blue to be ‘looked after’ fell through. It is clear Blue has not been well cared for in a long time. In a way, her surrender to council and then the pound, is a blessing in disguise for Blue, we can now help her get the care and veterinary treatment she needs.
We are searching for a foster or foster to adopt home for Blue, so that we can heal her and help her to become ready for her forever home. Blue is extremely thin and is still losing weight in the shelter, she needs fattening up and some TLC. Blue is suffering from chronic ear infections, her ears are very sore, we need to get her properly assessed and put on a management plan to get the infections under control.
What are we looking for in a foster home for Blue?
- carer to help Blue get to her veterinary appointments and administer medication (blue is a good girl at taking ear drops).
- a home without other animals (blue has met other dogs with a slow introduction, however is lacking the required social manners to live with another dog)
- may potentially be ok with children over 5 so long as they respect that her ears are sore
- committed to having Blue for a minimum of 2 months whilst she receives treatment.
What will GSRV provide for Blue?
- All veterinary treatment, we just need your help to administer meds and get her to appointments
- LifeWise food – the very best to help Blue put on weight.
- Flea and worm treatment
- GSRV collar and lead
- Toys, a bed, bowls, and everything else you could need!
Our foster homes are full, we need to recruit more carers otherwise we will have to start saying no to pound dogs who desperately need us, dogs like Blue. We have everything ready for Blue, we just need somewhere for her to go, she is still sitting in the shelter, not coping… we have been told that her only pathway is through rescue, we must find her urgent placement if she is to have a chance. Blue is a sweet, gentle girl that really deserves so much more than the cards she has been dealt, we are desperate to save her life and show her the love she has been missing out on.
We always give our foster carers the first chance to adopt their foster dog, so many people tell us they would foster, but could never give them back… well if you fall in love whilst fostering, the good news is you don’t have to! This is why we are so short on carers, so many have recently fallen in love with and then adopted their foster dog.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
Mature (1 year to 6 years) - $600
Senior (7 years plus) - $350
