About Clove
Clove is our resident rolly polly, sweet as pie pug who is now ready to find her perfect forever family.
Clove was surrendered to a rural NSW pound after doing a stint as a breeding dog. After coming to Sydney, it was apparent she previously had quite a small world - she was quite timid and unsure of herself. Her foster carer is doing a fantastic job of helping her find her feet and Clove has come along leaps and bounds over the last month. She is fairly confident out and about now and loves her daily walks. She is still nervous in some situations so he will need experienced owners to continue her building her confidence when in new places. Miss Clove is an extremely loyal, cuddly and affectionate girl, but she can be shy when meeting new people, especially men, so she is looking for owners who understand it may take a bit of patience for her to fully warm up to you. As soon as she feels safe with you, she loves nothing more than getting all the love she can get.
During her time in care, she has been living with another pug mix and has met dogs of various ages and sizes. She loves to have a play with smaller dogs but does find some bigger dogs overwhelming. She is never aggressive - just looks to her human for assurance and avoids any dogs she is worried by. Her new owners will need to continue her socialisation with lots of friendly, known dogs to ensure she continues to have good associations with other dogs and her confidence builds. She will be fine to live as an only dog (which we think she might prefer!) but could also share with another small breed who has a laid-back personality. Her new owners should have experience with a multi dog household and knowledge of how to set boundaries so that one dog doesn’t hog all the attention. Whether you have another dog in the house or not, we are still looking for a home where someone is home more often than not, or at least for an extended period while she settles in.
Clove has been learning some basic commands but this is a work in progress. She knew nothing coming into care, so her carer has mainly been focusing on confidence building rather than traditional obedience. She will need an owner to continue with her basic training. She walks well on the leash and doesn’t pull, and she loves her daily walks so will need a home where she is taken out every day. Clove is toilet trained, sleeps through the night, isn’t a barker and travels well in the car.
Being a pug, Clove could use with airway surgery to improve her quality of life if her new owner has the capacity to do so. We have arrangements with vets in Sydney to get this done at a discounted rate, so finding an owner who may be willing to do this would be lovely. She lives a very good quality of life as it stands, so this would be a bonus. Any applicant we speak to will be given more in-depth information on this. She will be fine to live in a house, on rural property or in a unit as she is very versatile. We would prefer an adult only home due to her initial reserved nature, but visiting children would be no issue for this sweet girl. Clove will need a family who can involve her in family life and provide her a warm bed to sleep on inside of a night.
If you feel you can offer our cuddly, pig - oops pug! a home, then please fill out an adoption application outlining in detail what sort of home you can provide Clove and your previous dog experience that demonstrates your ability to continue her confidence building.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
