Hey friends, my name is Possum! (Also known as Possie, PossPoss, Possum Blossom, and Squiggles to my foster carers!). I had a bit of a scary start to my life, and was living rough on the streets with the occasional feed and attention from the neighbours. But I have really thrived since I came into care. My new people taught me that pats are good and toys are great... but CHICKEN is the best! I'm a shy but unapologetically sassy young girl who likes snoozing in the warm sun spots, shouting through the window at that pesky bird who likes to visit the garden, and playing with my toys.
Since coming into care I have learned that I really love pats, and I'll even help myself now by lifting your hand while you are sleeping 😉 My foster mum says I've become so much more affectionate since I've been staying with them. I'm also discovering my love of cat toys, particularly my big snake teaser toy. I love to wrestle with him now that I know that he doesn't bite!
I've really thrived in foster care as a solo kitty and would love to be your one and only kitty, as I seem to be happiest this way. I met a few kitties, dogs, and small children, which was a bit scary for me! I enjoy predictability, quiet, and respect of my boundaries, and can get a bit sassy when I'm scared (understandably!).
I did make a kitty friend in foster care though! The key to this was that we got to know each other slowly - and we ended up the best of friends! So if you have any fur friends at home it will be important to introduce me very slowly so that I feel safe. On the bright side, I've learned some great communication skills to let you know when I've had enough!
Although I used to be a bit slender, I'm now at a very healthy weight. I might beg you for a second dinner or some of whatever you're eating, but you should probably not listen to me.... even if I get very persuasive! I've seen the vet for desex, vaccinations and microchipping and has been given the tick of approval. I'm great with the litter tray (don't worry, I'll definitely cover up my crimes!) and I'm a tidy girl. I'm ready for a place to call my own!
Am I the purrfect kitty for you? Fill out an application now!
Sunbeams and chicken,
Possum xo
Medical notes
I tested negative for FIV/FeLV and have been an inside only kitty since. I should be kept inside or in an enclosure to keep me (and the wildlife!) safe and healthy.
