About Dobby
Hi! I'm Dobby and I'm looking for a new family to call my own.
Size: Medium
Weight: 27kg
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR Dobby
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/j4CGyrzUFJi52r1s6
NOTE: You are unable to meet Dobby until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Dobby in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• A doggie playmate who is gentle and calm may be okay as boisterous dogs scare me so I will require lots of socialisation with positive experiences with other dogs.
• I like both friendly male and female dogs
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• Lots of love and attention
• A quiet & mature family/household
• No young children as when I'm excited I get very bouncy and mouthy, older children who will be involved with my training should be ok.
• I am very shy at first so I need a family who'll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time
• I have lots of energy so an active family is a must
• NO CATS, I like to chase them
• Being an active breed I have a lot of energy so an active family is a must!
• Doggy daycare and group socialisation classes would be highly beneficial for me.
• I have a very high prey drive so I can't go to a home that already has cats, rabbits/guinea pigs or chickens/ducks as I will chase them
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
Things that I don't want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• No young children as I can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people and little ones may accidently scare me. Older and dog savvy children who will be involved with my training should be ok
• Cats, small animals or livestock as I find them fun to chase
My best features:
• Very playful
• Wiggle butt
• Highly food motivated
• I have had some basic obedience training and am a generally well-mannered dog
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans
• I walk well on lead
• Happy to hang out with other friendly dogs
• I am clever and eager to learn so would love a family who will teach me some cool tricks.
• I LOVE toys, playing fetch and a game of tug-o-war
• I love attention, hugs, kisses & head scratches
• Well mannered
• Love to snooze on the couch
• Exuberant & full of beans
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I need a nice quiet home with no young children (under 12 years), so I can whatever time I need to get used to my new home and learn that I'm safe and loved
• I am very shy at first with new people and in new environments so will require a family who will take their time allowing me to settle in and continue on with my socialization
• Unsure in new situations - more socialising is needed
• I love my food & toys so using them as a positive reward should make my training easier.
• I can be a bit bouncy - training should stop this
• I may show signs of anxiety when I'm left alone in the backyard. Leaving me some enrichment toys/treats may help this.
• I am extremely timid in new situations such as entering a building/home. I MUST have a family who'll allow me inside so I can see it isn't a scary place and to allow my confidence to grow.
• As I have not been allowed inside before I am not housetrained yet
• I am social with other friendly dogs however I will react if they are too full on or reactive to me, further socialisation is recommended.
