About Oberon
Oberon is a gentle Great Dane cross youngster born on 13 Sept 2023.
He was born in our care to supermum, Luna, a gentle and mild-mannered Great Dane cross, before being adopted as a small pup by a loving family.
Sadly, his devoted family are no longer able to care for him for reasons completely unrelated to Oberon and through no fault of their own, so they've made the tough decision to return him to us for rehoming.
His family describe him as a gentle, affectionate, placid and well-mannered youngster. He's good with humans, big and small, and other dogs. Cats don’t bother him as well.
He currently lives with a kelpie, cats and toddler children. He is toilet trained and sleeps below his toddler foster carers bed all night.
Oberon is an excellent watchdog. He will sound the bark alarm when appropriate to do so, for example, if someone knocks on the door, but is otherwise a quiet chap that loves to feel like he’s close to his humans.
Walking on a lead is not his strength, being quite anxious he jumps at new things. He will need practice. However when the gates are open in his foster carers yard, he doesn’t run away, rather he walks calmly by her side. Also when he was taken to the dam, he was off lead the entire time.
Great Danes are known as gentle giants and typically make for sweet, calm, affectionate pets. Oberon is very sweet and calm, however can also be quite anxious in new situations, which love and time calms him. He loves to be close to his humans where ever they are, so someone who is home with him as regularly as possible will be preferable.
Prior experience with giant dogs will be well regarded. He is good at walking on and off lead. He is very loyal and stays close to the ones he loves.
Secure fencing is a must as always.
