About Dusty
Meet Dusty who is a handsome little fella who recently turned 7. He is full of personality, Pomeranian weighing approx 9 kilos and is amazingly loyal who will make a fantastic companion. His fur is silky smooth with his sparkling eyes and big grin. He came into his foster home very sad, confused and upset and needed some time to settle down and chill out. Since then, his energetic personality has come out and he is a delight to look after. He is food motivated and will let you know if he doesn’t like it. He loves to run around the house with his squeaky toys and fling them around the room. He loves other dogs and enjoys playtime. He is mostly toilet trained and will need more time to get used to his new home. He is a constant shadow and will give you lots of love.

Dusty is a little nervous when meeting new people until he gets to know you. He is such a friendly dog and loves to play. He loves to play tug of war with his toys and play chasey around the yard or house. He is very quick and loves to play games with you. He does not like being picked up or kissed on the head but will happily accept lots of pats and tummy rubs. He can be a bit mouthy but not in an aggressive way. He can be full of beans or nice and quiet.
Since being in foster care, Dusty has been a quick learner with obedience training. He has learnt to sit, come, wait -this one is a work in progress. He stops at kerbs when we are walking with the command “wait” and then “ok” to go. He is amazing to be with and teach him new things, and he seems to love it as well. He just wants to be with you everywhere you go. Dusty loves to play with toys and will engage you to play at every opportunity.
Dusty loves meeting new people and other dogs when he is out and about. Dusty loves to play with other dogs and will play until he is tired. He has made other dog friends and loves being with them. He has also been walking with other dogs and really enjoys their company. However, Dusty does not like dogs being up in his face and finds this very intimidating. He may react to let them know to move away.
Dusty likes to go wherever you go. He likes to be in the car and is secured in his harness and seatbelt. He also has a dog hammock and one or two of his toys. He will either watch you between the car seats or poke his head out of the window and let the wind blow in his face and watch the world go by.
Dusty has a smooth silky soft coat and will need a brush and regular bath to keep him nicely groomed. When you start to brush him – he does tend to wiggle around and I’m sure he thinks it’s a game. Once he settles down, he will sit and just let you brush his beautiful fur.
From the very first night, Dusty has slept on the bed next to his foster mum. He is very quiet during the night and will sleep throughout the night. In the morning – when you say “Good Morning Dusty” he is like an ever-ready battery and ready to go…………. He does have a fluffy bed to sleep in during the day.
Dusty absolutely loves his walks – when he sees his leash and harness, he gets very excited, and it can be a bit tricky getting his harness on him as he wiggles a lot. Once you are ready to go, he jumps along the footpath eager to go on his new adventure. He does tend to pull a little bit at the start but will settle down and walk well. Dusty requires a walk every day to see and explore the big wild world. He loves to sniff and smell and explore his environment. He makes you laugh as he is constantly stopping and really needs a High Vis jacket that says, “Frequently Stopping”.
Dusty has become good inside the house. He may take a little bit to get used to his new environment and being a male dog – show him where he can go to do his business from the beginning. He loves to snuggle next to his foster mum on the couch and go to sleep on my lap in a ball. He gives lots of kisses and loves to belly rubs. He would stay with you all day if that was an option. He is not keen on the vacuum cleaner or loud noises – this makes him nervous.
Dusty will need a quiet, gentle, loving family to allow him to be inside and enjoy his company. He’s not been tested with cats. He will be ok with older children who won’t over-excite him. He is such a little pocket rocket with a big personality and a few quirks. (Don’t we all).
He seems to have separation anxiety and tends to bark when you first leave the house.
He will need to sleep inside and have a day bed outside and some enrichment to keep him occupied when you are not home. As Dusty likes to explore outside in the backyard, he will need a home with a good-sized backyard with grass, shelter, and secure fencing,
Dusty is a very loving little fella who just wants to be with his human. He will need someone that is home most of the time and that needs a companion. If this fits your lifestyle, then Dusty is your dog. He loves to give kisses and will be a very loyal dog who will give you lots of love. He will make a fantastic addition to your family. 😊
