About Stanley
Let us introduce you to Stanley!
Stanley (staffy x) . *Might be crossed w a Ridgeback or Kelpie type of breed we don't know for sure* all we know is that he is 100% sweet gentle loving boy .Currently at 22kg . Adult weight will be around 25kg.
HE is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever be lucky enough to meet.
This handsome fellow is almost 8 months old, and has been living with a foster family since being dumped outside a rural pound in NSW at 4 mths old.
He came in very shy and unsure but slowly grew into an amazing young man. Everyone who met him said he is the most mature puppy they've ever met!
We waited until he was 6 mths old before desexing him. Once healed, we continue with his lifestyle training. Doesnt take long to train Stanley.
He is very intelligent and loves to please you . He is very social & gentle with humans big or small. he is very playful with other friendly playful dog. And whatever he is crossed with he loves adventuring long distance with his hoomans.
He is also great in the car !
Supervised play time is needed --because he is still a pup Stanley also need supervision when playing ...he is still learning and can get too much for smaller dogs if not supervised. He listen well to correction.
He has been socialised very well with various type of dogs , big and small since he was 4 mths old. He is friendly will all dogs like typical puppy . At this stage of his development he needs to learn that not all dogs are friendly or want to be friends with him . This is where we have started training him on his greeting when on leash as well as impulse control to promote calmness . To teach him that being calm is good manner and that will get him the best 4 legged friends that are also calm and gentle.
*A puppy needs to avoid strenuous play ie jumping and excessive / rough play due to their bones not fully developed yet until they hit 14 mths.*
Stanley is crate and toilet trained, knows basic commands and is eager to please, although he doesn’t always get it right Hahaha #puppybrain
He has good leash walking skill and has been really good at controlling his excitement when on leash especially around other doggies . Recall is something that he will need to work on once he has found his forever home.
Just like any dogs - training is lifetime commitment. It is also something that is crucial when they are still young like Stanley . Stanley will LOVEEEE having an older brother or sister that will take him under their wings.
Stanley loves playing with toys especially diving into his toys bucket and taking them out one by one hahaha (especially his Kong with treats inside or anything that squeaks!), adventuring with his humans, trail walks, snoozing in the sun and hanging out with his humans and his 4 legged friends.
He also loves a belly rub, ear massage and a cuddle and is a very affectionate, loving little guy.
He is not a barker in general . He barks when strangers are outside the house or when he is playing chase with other dogs.
NOTE: It's important to provide Stanley with enough exercise and stimulation just like any dogs - if they are left bored they can be destructive .
He is Indoor mainly with access to outdoor for toileting. He will sit near the door to tell you he needs to go out.
If you have a dog door Stanley will learn very quickly on how to use it !
He sleeps in his crate throughout the night with no issues, and will have daytime naps in his crate too (after a bit of encouragement as he does prefer a snooze on the couch or with you on your bed or in the sun on the balcony!). Being a pup he will need daily nap time to avoid overstimulation
His diet is currently premium Blackhawk kibbles, prime100 rolls , raw human grade mince , cooked veggies , lactose free yoghurt and Berries.
Once a week he gets lamb ribs or lamb neck bone for dental hygiene
Stanley is looking for a family that has the time to have a young boy like him . An active family - One that will incld him as a part of the family , teach him the ropes etc.
A family that can commit to his continous training need being a young pup and all. Adopting Stanley incld mandatory enrollment into a professional trainer unless you are experienced in training a dog yourself.
If you have a well balanced resident dog similar size or bigger - Stanley would love to have an older brother or sister to learn from.
Please send Stanley your adoption interest if you think he is the 4 legged bff you have been looking for.
