Oskar

Meet the adorable Oskar, who has the cutest floppy ears and the softest fur ever. He loves scratches and will literally fall asleep while you’re scratching him.

This soft and cuddly boy is a St Bernard x currently weighing 12 kilos so we feel he will be a larger size med at full growth

He will make the perfect addition to a family. This boy came to us quite timid that we couldn’t even pet him! One week later and he is happy to approach anyone he comes across.

He is amazing with all dogs and loves running around with them at the dog park.

Oskar has been fostered in a family with one other dog as well as kids aged 9 and 10.

He enjoys the company of the other dog and follows her everywhere.

Oskar is so chilled. He loves food, scratches, toys and other dogs to play with. oh! If you have treats he loves those too.

Oskar definitely enjoys pats and attention but not overly needy.

Oskar enjoys walks but is a little hesitant at first. Once he is out and about he loves it. Same with getting in a car. He will put all fours down but once in he is perfect. Just sit there waiting.

He has displayed a friendly demeanor to all dogs and loves to run (slowly) around with them.

He is being taught to sit, which will need to be continued with his new family. He does not jump up on people which is a bonus as he will be a bigger dog. He love stealing our clothes and shoes from the floor but he will not destroy them, just throw them around.

Oskar has a beautiful, soft coat. So smooth! Oskar is toilet trained but may sometimes have an accident if you don’t open the door quick enough in the morning.

The first few nights Oskar slept in the foster parents bed because he was so scared.

Now he currently loves sleeping outside on his bed right next to his foster sister. They come inside in the morning for a snuggle before school and work.

He will also love to snuggle in bed with anyone.

He is very devoted to his dog friends and we feel will be much better suited to a home with another dog who is loving and gentle but playful

He likes entertaining himself with multiple toys in the backyard. Inside he is happy to hang where you are. He’s not an overly needy boy but does like cuddles if you are willing.

We do seek a home where he can be inside or outside and have a doggie sister to play with.

Oskar doesn’t seem to faze if taken for a walk or not. I think he may be on the lazy side. When at the dog park he just hangs with me and walks by my side. He will go off and say hello to all the other dogs and run around with them. No excessive running though. He has more of a wobble run. It’s very cute.

Oskar had a lot of trust issues getting into a car but once in he is perfect. He will just sit there and wait. Trying to get him out can also be an issue. We have to grab him and carry him out but this will certainly come with time

He takes treat’s gently

He has shown no reactivity to other dogs when eating but will try and steal their food so is therefore fed separately.

He will jump on the couch for a nap. He has not been destructive inside but will find things to steal such as shoes, socks etc.

Adoption criteria

A loving family and suitable with children. As he adored them and is very gentle

A FEMALE dog to be his BFF would be desirable

A home with a reasonable size backyard, not suited to a small backyard or apartment living.

A home where he will be included as part of the family.

A family who is prepared to continue his training and socialization.

An active family committed to exercising.

Not tested with cats but based on temperament we feel he would learn
