Meet Star, your future four-legged companion!
Star was previously named 'Staunch' but we think Star is a much better fitting name because she has a personality that shines as bright as one.
If you're an experienced dog owner looking for a loyal and loving addition to your family, Star might be the perfect fit for you.
About Me: Star has a charming personality and eagerness to please which make her a wonderful addition to any loving home. Star's temperament is both independent and agreeable, making her a delightful and adaptable friend to all. Her affectionate nature will warm your heart, and she's sure to bring happiness to your everyday life.
Ideal Home: Star enjoys the freedom of going inside and outside, so she can enjoy the best of both worlds. A medium to large yard with high secure fencing would be a great asset to her as well.
Star is looking for a calm and quiet home, but she is adaptable, she would also thrive with a family that is active and outdoorsy, who want to take her on adventures.
Family: She's open to meeting children aged 8 years and up, making her a great choice for families. But then again, she’d be the perfect companion for singles or couples. What we do know about her is that she previously lived with small children.
Her easy-going nature means that she is also suitable for both full-time and part-time workers.
Furry Friends: Star missed out on that key socialisation period when she was younger, because of this Star would be best as the only dog in the home (for now…) We do believe that with some additional professional training and patience, she could become more comfortable around other dogs.
We are uncertain about how Star would react to cats or pocket pets, and we do not think that she ever lived with them in her previous home.
Work Hard: Star is open to learning new tricks and commands. She already knows "sit" and "shake" and is eager to learn more. Her food motivation and gentle treat-taking make her a breeze to train.
Star would benefit from post-adoption training, both at home and with a professional, to help her become the best companion she can be & to learn better manners when around other dogs.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play Hard: Her medium to high energy levels make her an ideal companion for those who enjoy daily walks and outdoor activities.
While Star doesn't play with toys, she prefers human interaction and affection over playthings. One thing's for sure, Star absolutely loves being petted all over and adores butt scratches!
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
Adoption details
Please remember that the pets we have available sometimes come to us with no history, so we do our very best to get to know them while they are here and to match them to your home. Sometimes animals behave differently outside of the shelter environment, so please do keep in touch after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
