About Walter
Walter is roughly 12mth old desexed male Staghound x.
Walter is truly a delightful gentle giant that needs a lot of gentle guidance.
Walter suffers severe anxiety and will require an interested party to meet him several times over a number of weeks, so please consider the travel requirement and time commitment before expressing interest. Walter is located between Grafton and Coffs Harbour NSW.
You must meet all the criteria to be considered for adoption.
1. You must have another social dog but NO SMALL DOGS!
2. You need a large secure yard or secure acreage
3. Adult quiet home only with a safe indoor space for him to retreat to when you have visitors or guests
4. You must be home more than average at least initially. Walter thrives on routine and once this is established he does quite well on his own, but this takes time. Initially he can show increased anxiety at being left alone.
5. You must be prepared for a management plan that includes - safe zones, behaviour medication, on lead work and supervised interaction with his dog friend.
Walter is a truly beautiful soul. He is soft natured and well intended, but he is also a BIG puppy so he can be a little rough sometimes and likes to dig the occasional hole. He has great self play though and is a delight to watch and be around. Once he is bonded with you, he will look to you for guidance in most situations.
If you meet these criteria and would like to know more, please tell us a bit about yourself in an EMAIL to realrescuensw@gmail.com
Medical notes
Walter has been seen by a Veterinary Behaviourist and this will be required ongoing. He suffers social anxiety around people and takes behaviour medication, some of which will be a long term commitment.
