About Matilda
Hi my name is Matilda and I love to love anyone and everything!
I am an American Pocket Bulldog and I am 8 months old
I have to be classed as a American Bulldog on petrescue as they don't have pocket but I can promise you I am not that big - I am about 15 kgs and 36cm tall and won't be as big as a American Bulldog.15kg
I came into care about 2 months ago in pretty bad shape – I had Demodectic mange and was dumped at the pound overnight.
The pound jumped into gear and contacted the rescue and asked if they could help - thankfully they said of course and then my new life really started!
Now before i get into what i have been up to i will clarify about the mange
How does this occur - Demodectic mange is not contagious to other animals or humans. Demodex mites are transmitted to puppies from their mother during the first few days and neither mum or pup having treatment.
Now the rescue made sure i had treatment in fact i started the minute i came into care it was a huge arse tablet i had to take (and of course it was wrapped in roast chicken like heck I’m not saying no to that!) They did these baths on me - oh boy did i smell when they were doing it but they said it was good for my skin.
The other treatment was TLC and lots and lots of it!
Fast forward now just over 2 wonderful months of me being in care and my skin and fur just looks amazing
I now have some cushioning on the toosh! I even now have a swagger when I walk.
They made it so that my skin wasn't red and inflamed and painful to touch now i love love love being cuddled by my humans and cuddle with other dogs.
So as i have recovered my personality has grown I'm a very happy girl who is a bit of a social butterfly and love meeting new people sometimes I do get a little bit extra excited but do calm down quickly.
I love watching tv with you and sleeping next to the bed / on the bed at night to make sure you are safe (don't listen to my mum it has absolutely nothing to do with the bed being soft and comfy and me loving that comfort!
I love going on car rides and my foster mum and dad take us to the beach and i absolute love goofing around with the other dogs that they have. I am good on a lead and enjoying doing for a walk as well anything to do with my family.
My foster mum says i'm the sweetest, she says i have a beautiful nature and anyone who meets her falls in love with her and she returns that love 100,000,000 fold!
I currently have other dogs that i love to play with, sleep with (love to touch) and love to just be with but i would also be okay as an only dog as long as i was very active in their lives.
I have been called my foster mum's little shadow from time to time, something about how i follow her everywhere and likes to know what she is doing.
I am still a pup and learning some of my training, i can excited when meeting people and jump and mouth a little, my foster mum says i cant' do this but sometimes i just forget, continually training will help me.
I looooove food and I’m about 85% there with my sit command but sometimes i am so excited i forget and just want to do a happy dance that my yummy food is coming - oh yeah and i had to say it would be beneficial for me to have a slow feeder apparently my foster mum says something about i can eat quickly!
I love to have access to inside and outside, I also love playing with other dogs and chasing balls and I may be known for not being that great at bringing them back – but oh well I do with it lots of enthusiasm and a bulldog butt wiggle!
I also love being on the couch for my snoozes
I'm toilet trained but have had an accident or two in the house so that is something that i will need help on please.
I have not been around cats and I’m going to be honest that could go either way.
I have had a pretty tough start to life and I’m really looking for my forever home where there is people for cuddles, and beds / couches for snoozing on.
