Meet Cashew! This 2 yr old rough collie is sure to steal your heart with his good looks and friendly personality. He loves nothing more than being around the people he loves.
He is a happy boy that will need ongoing training but is responding well. A training program has been put in place for his new family to continue with. Cashew is a friendly boy and gets along with most dogs, however as he has no idea of how big he is, he would not suit sharing a home with young children or small dogs due to his high energy levels. He loves cats - sometimes a bit too much though, so supervision recommended there.
Cashew might still be a puppy at heart but his good indoor manners and responsiveness to praise mean that training him will be an easy process. He is highly food motivated and very quick to learn. Cashew would excel at obedience school, scent tracking and agility training. He already has basic commands down pat. As a working breed, Cashew needs regular walks and brushing to keep his coat in great condition - this won't take too much time however, as brushing him once or twice a week should be enough.
Cashew is looking for a human who he can be best friends with, he's inquisitive and wants to be where the people are. With patience and lots of love, Cashew will make the perfect addition to your home!

Adoption details
Our Rescue Collies are placed into foster care in one of our volunteers private homes. There they are assessed for temperament, health, level of training, the Collies likes and dislikes and what type of home would best suit the Collie.
If not already done, the Collie is desexed, vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested & microchipped.
The Collie will not be put up for adoption until we (and the foster carer) feel the Collie is ready to go to a new home.
Once the collie has been put up for adoption we will then choose a number of suitable applications for the foster carer to go through and decide which applicant they think would suit the collie best. The foster carer will then arrange for the collie to meet and greet their potential new adopter at a home check and observe how the collie and the adopter interact with each other. After the meet and greet the collie goes home with the foster carer for a cooling off period so that the applicant and the foster carer can both have a serious think about whether this is the right home for this particular collie.
If it is decided that this is the right forever home then the applicant is advised to collect the dog from the foster carers, we believe this stops the dogs from feeling dumped, the paperwork is completed, and the collie goes off to its new forever home!
