About Jessie
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE, HOWEVER WE CAN ON OCCASION ARRANGE TRANSPORT BY ROAD TO THE PERTH AREA.
NAME: Jessie
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance from the pound
BREED: Chihuahua x
BREED TRAITS: Chihuahuas love to be with their people and are definitely companion dogs that do not like to be left alone, They are sensitive, but are dogs, and can be problematic if overindulged. They love their family but can be aloof or wary of strangers and other dogs so early socialisation is very important. Chihuahuas cannot tolerate cold or hot weather so a warm coat in the winter and care re overheating in the summer is needed - they are not outside dogs. They are bright and wilful but will learn if you make it fun and although small, have big personalities. Quick learners, they can compete in agility and obedience trials so don't dismiss a Chihuahua just because it is cute!

ASSETS: Easy going, affectionate, eager to please, friendly, outgoing, sweet and playful pretty much sums up Jessie’s personality, she’s a very sweet girl and loves every person she meets!
FAVOURITE THINGS: Her favourite game is fetch, but she usually forgets to bring the ball back! She loves spending time playing with the other dogs in her foster home and thrives when she’s around people getting affection.
ENDEARING FEATURES: Jessie has a lovely, sweet nature and is the most loyal and loving little girl. She has beautiful eyes that seem to look into your soul.
OTHER ANIMALS: Jessie gets on well with other friendly dogs and loves their company but being a mature lady would prefer to be an only dog at home. She won’t be suited to a home with cats as she doesn’t appear to like them.
GENERAL INFO: Jessie walks well on her lead after a little tugging initially and is house trained. She enjoys getting out and about in the car and rarely barks. She knows a couple of commands but would benefit from some ongoing training.
ESSENTIALS for Jessie:
** A loving home where someone is there more often than not or can take her with them when out. Being a companion dog, she really does like to have her companion around so would suit retirees that can give her adequate exercise.
** She has lived with other dogs but being older has a lower tolerance level so much prefers to be the only dog in the home and getting all of the attention as long as she isn't left for long periods. As an only dog she would enjoy regular interaction and playdates with other small dogs.
** Jessie needs a fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things for her to sniff and explore.
** Jessie loves to be with her people so needs to be allowed inside the home and to sleep inside at night.
Jessie is very accepting of children who will recognize her signals and give her space when she needs it but being a mature girl would be better in an adult home.
