Meet Verne!

Verne has been in our care for some time now, starting out as a very terrified and unsocialised kitten, who has grown into a friendly and (when comfortable) sociable boy. He takes time getting settled into new environments and is looking for a calm and gentle hand in his new adopters. Verne was originally adopted with his sister Shirley, but returned as he suddenly decided he wasn't keen on hanging out with his sister...

Verne is a darling little fellow with a quirky meow. He is very vocal around mealtime and when he is comfortable around the house, he'll start calling out for you too. Initially, Verne will avoid being stroked, he needs to build his confidence letting unknown people pet him. Vern likes to find a space to watch the world and is usually found in 'turtle mode' in his cage at the shelter.

Vern loves other cats and doesn't mind cat friendly dogs. Vern needs a quiet home without children. Strangers frighten him but some yummy treats and wand toys will help him gain confidence and help him work out that people are ok. Vern plays hard with other cats and will tear around the house once he's settled, it's really quite magical to watch! Vern likes to climb and feels comfortable on top of the cat pole where he can watch what's going on.

Vern would like a window to sit at or access to an outdoor enclosure where he can roll around and chase flies - but he hasn't worked out the dog door yet! Vern is a sweet man with beautiful green eyes and gorgeous markings. It will take time but he will get there, just be patient. P.s. this little darling tends to get car sick, even on short trips.
