About Monte 🐶 2yo Chihuahua (On Trial 5/11/23)
Timid and shy, 2-year-old Monte the Chihuahua wants to be the apple of your eye 🍎. Although timid at first, when he warms up and becomes comfortable in his new home his affectionate personality will shine through. He’s a funny guy who is happy always being near you.
⭐️He is the best work-from-home buddy you could ask for. He will sleep on your lap or under your desk. He likes going for walks but finds new things scary so will need your patience to protect him and give him positive experiences so that he learns that he is safe.
Monte missed out on socialisation as a puppy so now he is wary of the big world and shy in new situations and with new people.
He will need a calm and loving home with someone who understands timid dogs. He is mostly an indoor dog who loves nothing better than a warm lap or shoulder to sleep on. He will venture out to the garden to toilet but he doesn’t spend a lot of time outside if you’re not there with him. Monte would prefer you to be home more often than not.
Monte currently sleeps snuggled up in his foster carers bed.
He has had a couple of toilet accidents in foster care, but mostly takes himself outside with the other dogs. He will need continued positive reinforcement to continue this toilet training. He is currently in foster care with 4 little dogs, so he may like a fur sibling but he will need to be introduced to them under supervision. His new dog friend should accept that Monte loves to be near you and on your lap.

Monte is in foster care in Newcastle, NSW. ⭐️He is only available for adoption within NSW and ACT. No flights or long-distance adoption.
Monte's adoption fee is $700 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas, worms, vet checked, and microchipped.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire:

(2) If the questionnaire is approved we will arrange a property check so we
can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've applied for.
(3) After that we will arrange for you to meet the pet, usually at the foster
carer's home, nearby park or your home.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family
member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
