About Gus - Located in Kew
Hey there, fabulous humans! I'm Gus, the feline extraordinaire, and let me tell you, I'm the purrfect blend of charm and quirks. Picture this: I'm not just a cat; I'm a cool cat who's been through some stuff, but I've come out on the other side with my head held high and my tail held higher!
So, here's the dealio: I've got this whole medical jazz going on, but fear not, because with a sprinkle of extra hydration and a dash of low-stress vibes, I'm living my best nine lives! I've got this routine down, and let me tell you, I've turned into a real flourishing furball. When my humans come home, I'm all about the meows and trills, welcoming them with open paws and a heart full of love.
Now, let's talk social life. Dogs? Nah, not my cup of milk. They stress me out, and we all know stress is not the vibe for my fabulous self. I'm thinking a human-only family or maybe, just maybe, a cat buddy who's as chill as a cucumber. I've had my share of feline drama, so I'm a bit picky about my friends. But guess what? I've found a cool cat pal, and we're rocking the buddy system like pros.
Life lesson from Gus: Sometimes, you've got to navigate through a few rough patches to find your sunny spot. And let me tell you, I've found mine. So, if you're all about creating a stress-free zone, keeping an eye out for emergency signs, and sharing your heart and home with a cat who's got charm for days, I'm your guy. Let's make this friendship official—because together, we can conquer anything, one purr at a time! 🐾✨

Medical notes
Gus was previously diagnosed with a life-threatening urinary blockage and ongoing FLUTD. He has since shown no signs of an issue but he MUST be maintained on his Hills c/d stress diet (no other foods or treats!) + extra hydration and a low stress environment ongoing to try prevent this from occurring again. He will also need an owner who is vigilant in recognising the signs of an emergency and acting quickly.
WORLDWIDE CAT VACCINE SHORTAGE
There is currently a worldwide shortage of cat vaccines and supplies are unlikely to be replenished until early 2024. This is due to complicated supply problems post-COVID. Our vets have limited, and in some cases no supplies available, but are prioritising kittens and previously unvaccinated Cats wherever possible.
Kittens are at the highest risk as their level of protection is very low after the initial protection provided by the mother’s antibodies. While protection will wane a little over time, a delay up to three months is unlikely to result in a significant reduction in levels of protection. It is anticipated that clinics should have regular supplies early in the new year to bring your cat back up to date.
First Vaccination completed
We will try to provide at least 1 vaccination, depending on our supplies of vaccines available, however boosters may become overdue. In this case it is your responsibility to contact your vet as soon as supplies become available. We will not be re-imbursing any of this costs.
We require all cats and kittens to be indoors only and not allowed outside. This is especially important now as there is a risk of coming into contact with unknown cats who may not be vaccinated.
No Vaccination completed
Where we are unable to provide any vaccination during their time in care with us, please contact us on 0459779888 or via email to samantha@neko.org.au, and we will arrange for one vaccination to be done at one of our partnering clinics as soon as supplies are available. Boosters after this will be your responsibility.
Please note that should you choose to utilise your own clinic, we will not be re-imbursing any costs. This is your responsibility.
