About Donny
Requirements for Donny’s new home:
- Donny finds females less frightening so would prefer a female owner to bond with. He is warming up to his foster dad, so a male in the house is ok.
- Please read all of Donny’s profile.
- Understanding owners who are prepared to converse with his foster family, they understand him very well and know what will help him settle into his new home the best.
- A settled calm household with a regular and predictable routine.
- A resident dog that is calm and a good role model
- No young children, and not to be picked up or dressed up.
- Opportunities to sit on your knees.
- Donny will need a crate, and access to mats or dog beds, these help him feel secure.
- Access to balls and toys, and to go for car rides.
- An indoor and outdoor lifestyle and to sleep inside.
Donny is looking for a special home. He has come into our care very nervous and timid. His foster carer has made great progress but he will still need an understanding home. His foster carer understands him and can give guidance on his needs.
Donny thrives on routine and boundaries. If his world becomes too big to quick then the anxious behaviour returns. He learns one step at a time, gains confidence with that, then we move onto teaching him something new. Donny is such a lovable, happy little dude. Once he gets to know you.
Donny definitely likes having another dog around, a level headed dog. He takes his lead from the other dog.
Donny doesn’t like to be picked up but will tolerate it if you have to pick him up for some reason. If you sit in a chair, even outside, he likes to jump up and sit on your lap.
Donny likes to have a mat or bed. No matter what room or even outside, if he has a bed or blanket, he will hop on it, this is his safe place. If he hops off, we just use his name and tap the bed and he hops back on. Inside his crate is also his safe place.
Let’s talk about what Donny loves. He loves walks and sniffs, playing with tennis balls and soft toys. He loves to be outside, its where he is most comfortable. And is always up for car rides.
When meeting people for the first time he can bark and do nervous run arounds, but if he is ignored, he will calm.
Donny walks well on lead but can pull a little around other dogs or wildlife.
Now that Donny has settled into his foster home, he has been toileting outside but in a new environment he may go back to having indoor accidents. He sleeps of a night in a crate and can wait to toilet outside in the morning.
Donny has starting to spend a couple of hours in the evening inside not in his crate and has made some amazing progress at being calm and comfortable.

Adoption details
Please note- we do not work on a first in best dressed basis, we assess all applications to choose the home that we believe will best match the animal.
If you believe one of our animals would be a good match for your home please send us a detailed email us with some information about the people and any other animals in your home as well as the type of lifestyle you can offer a new rescue pet. We are volunteerswho run the rescue around families, paid employment and other commitments so your patience is appreciated.
We do require any other dogs in your home meeting our foster animal before they head home with you. This enables us to assess their compatibility and helps prevent them being returned and creating more confusion/insecurities for the foster animal.
All our animals are available for a two week trial with full refund. They are also covered by a lifetime return policy. If you ever find yourself unable to care for or keep your pet please contact us and they will come back into our care, this is a condition of our Adoptions.
