About Haku
Haku is a heart dog! A heart dog is your soulmate – your soul's true counterpart and forever a part of your emotional existence. You evolve with each other and shape who you are and who you become.
He is forever sweet and if there were awards being handed out for being the best snuggler, he would win the prize, this dogs knows how to find a spot next to you on the couch, even if you can't possibly perceive a way that he could fit. Haku sadly spent over 7 months in a council pound but was consistently overlooked, thankfully our team saw his potential and busted him out and brought him into foster care.
During his time in care he has been a joy, he still has things to learn like how to control his excitement around other dogs but there's no malice in Haku just pure joy! His leash skills have improved and he is becoming more comfortable being left alone however it's still a work in progress.
Haku loves a snack and his KONG could be considered his best friend as when he's not enjoying eating the magical treats that fall out of it, he's tossing it in the air and zooming about the place.
MY IDEAL HOME: Haku's ideal home would be a family with teens or a couple around more often than not. He loves to love and be loved and whilst he happily would befriend any human, sometimes forget his size and would likely knock smaller children over. He will need someone committed to ongoing training as whilst he has come a long way in care, he did spend almost a whole year in a pound so missed out on some skills he might otherwise have learned.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Haku has energy to burn, he loves to run and play but just as quickly can settle and curl up on the couch as he truly loves nothing more than a cuddle.
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Haku loves all humans but small kids might find his vivacious energy and size a little overwhelming.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: Haku gets on well with other dogs but can be a bit much at times, he is best placed as the only dog in the home or with a dog that is around the same size that is a bit more chill and tolerant to teach him that party time is not all the time. He is not suitable for a home with cats or pocket pets.

We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
