About Oliver STA011410
Oliver, affectionately known as Ollie, came to us a very scared an timid stray. He desperately needed some love and confidence building away from the shelter environment, so he was placed into foster care where is has shown his kind and loving personality.
A few things from his Foster Home-
Ollie can be very affectionate, and he is at various times throughout the day. He will do his cute little yoga poses/stretches as he saunters over to you for a pat. He will then wind himself around your legs while being patted.
Ollie is very playful in the morning, and then takes the rest of the day pretty slow. He
enjoys being in the living room with us, but also enjoys being in his room. He will often retreat to it to sleep in during the day. When in his room he always sleeps on top of his kitty castle.
Ollie enjoys the company of our cats (and a previous male foster). He is canine friendly, and they often have nose kisses and cuddles. Ollie isn’t a lap cat, he occasionally will sit on the back of the couch to look out the window, but is very happy sleeping in his bed on the floor.
When Ollie has been in his room for a large part of the day, we will encourage him by calling his name, (we used to have to use treats) to come out and be social.
We “make” him come out of the room, as then he will stay out in the living area with us. He seems happy to come out for a pat and walk around. Ollie wouldn’t do well with small children, he is very “flighty” with sudden noise or movement.
Ollie does not want to be picked up, we are working on this with him.
Ollie is very sweet and gentle and he would do well with another cat for company.
If you would like more information about Oliver or wish to meet him please contact our Foster Care Co-Ordinator’s -Email foster@catprotection.com.au or Phone 0400 444 734.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
