Meet Lizzy, your soon-to-be BFF! This sweet and sensitive girl is eagerly waiting to be the shining star in your home. With her independent nature, she's the perfect fit for someone who has experience with dogs & is ready to provide the love and care she deserves.
About Me: Lizzy took a DNA test, turns out she's 100% that cute! Lizzy is an independent and somewhat agreeable dog, providing a nice balance of companionship and autonomy. Don't be fooled by her initial shyness; Lizzy is a cuddle enthusiast at heart. She loves nothing more than snuggling up on your lap and enjoying your affection.
Ideal Home: Calm and quiet households are her ideal environment. A small to medium-sized yard with secure fencing would be an ideal setting for her to explore and play safely. A home that allows her free access to both indoors & out would be a dream come true!
Family: Lizzy is open to meeting kids aged 5 years and up, making her a great addition to family life. If you're a part-time worker or have a busy schedule, Lizzy will adjust beautifully, making her a great fit for families, couples, or singles seeking a loving friend.
Furry Friends: Based on her reaction to other dogs, Lizzy must be the only dog in the household. This is likely due to missing out on that key socialisation period at a young age in her previous home.
While we're unsure about how she would get along with cats, based on her reaction to dogs, it's best to say no cats at this stage.
Work Hard: She could benefit from post-adoption training, either at home or with a professional, to enhance her engagement and response to commands, especially when encountering other dogs. She's a quick learner, although can be a little stubborn, and will benefit greatly from post-adoption training to further strengthen her focus and obedience.
Although she might be a bit picky with treats and food, one thing that never fails to make her tail wag (and sit) is some good old fashioned devon!
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play Hard: Daily walks and exercises will keep her spirits high, and she walks like a dream on a leash, especially with a harness, making outdoor adventures very enjoyable. While she may not be interested in toys at the moment, she does adore human interaction, cuddles, and sitting on your lap.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
Adoption details
Please remember that the pets we have available sometimes come to us with no history, so we do our very best to get to know them while they are here and to match them to your home. Sometimes animals behave differently outside of the shelter environment, so please do keep in touch after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
